Had this machine now for a couple months and it is still going strong. Everything works very well and the machine feels solid while running/walking on it. I usually do a couple miles a day on this thing and it never hesitates, stutters, or anything when increasing/decreasing speed or incline. Loving this thing so far and it has also helped me lose 20 pounds so far.
How I use the device:
Alternating daily workouts
30 minutes - 3.5 MPH - 5 minutes on 10-degree incline - 10 minutes on 15-degree incline - 10 minutes on 10-degree incline- 5 minutes on 2.5-degree incline
60 minutes - 3.5 MPH - 5 minutes on 5-degree incline for warm up - *Start HIIT* 2 minutes at 4MPH 15-degree incline then 3 minutes at 3.2 MPH 5-degree incline. Repeat 8 times. Then 15-minute cool down at 3.5 MPH 2-degree incline.
So that is how I use it. Everyday. I have had it 6 months and it still going strong.
Going to go through the features here...
7" backlit oversized LCD with racetrack display, (3 Stars) This gives you the time, distance, current incline, current speed and vertical feet. Those are useful. Then it has the waste of space stuff that you are still paying for. Ohh a race track, fancy. Ohh it tells me how many 400 meter laps I have done... Who freaking cares, it has the mileage listed right there… Useless info and a waste of space. You are paying for that extra screen size though...
iFit compatible; (2 stars) I used iFit daily on my iPad for my free trial. It was cool setting up my routine, see above, and just hitting go. It keeps track of the times and incline, and speed and just does it automatically. I tried some of their workouts with the google maps... It is dumb. It is NOT like it is in the video where it is a smooth video. It is street view. It updates like street view does. Silly. In the end, I cancelled. NOT worth the money or hassle. Also, it does not keep your stats in a meaningful way. You are better off with a Polar chest strap HRM and the App. It keeps stats on everything...
integrated device shelf; (1 Star for me) This is referring to the iPad holder above the deck. It will hold a small iPad. It will NOT hold a 10 or 12-inch tablet. I have an iPad Pro 12 inch, so I end up putting it on the deck covering the quick controls. Also, the thing squeezes your iPad... That is not good for it.
iPod compatible, (No Opinion) It is an inline port. Yes, you can hook your phone or iPod (People still have those?) to it via a mini stereo cable. Wow. Much amazing.
(2) 3" digitally amplified long-throw speakers with Digital volume control (No opinion) See iPod Compatible. I have no problem hearing my iPad during my workout, so I don't use this. Waste of money for me…
3.5 chp Mach Z commercial, (5 stars) - This is the engine. It is good and responsive.
0 - 12 MPH QuickSpeed, (5 stars) This is referring to the buttons on the control deck. Very handy
0 - 15% quick incline, 0 - 3% quick decline, (2 stars) This is referring to the buttons on the control deck. Very handy. I give 2 stars because changing incline is a SLOW process. It takes almost a minute to go from 0 to 15. For cardio HIITs that is NOT ideal, but you can make it work.
EKG grip pulse, (0 stars) Literally useless. I use a Polar strap and an app on my phone. It will show me at 170 BPM and these grips will show 76 BPM. This is a pointless feature that they use to drive up the price. Especially since it comes with a chest strap. More silliness.
dual band (Bluetooth Smart + ANT plus) wireless chest strap - (5 Stars) You should really use a chest strap if you are focused on Cardio... It works, but you will need to update the device drivers to make it connect easily. However, using this offers no tracking... So, you can see your HR, but not a graph of your workout. Wish it had some app other than the iFit money grab.
350 lb. Weight capacity, solid steel construction, 2.5" rear, 1.9" front, (5 Stars) Very will constructed, very stable.
precision balanced non-flex 22" x 60" deck, (5 Stars) Good deck, sturdy.
commercial 1-ply non-stretch tread belt, (5 Stars) No issues.
proshox cushioning No clue what this is... But it is nice to walk on. Not going to rate.
Lifetime frame & Motor Warranty, 5-year parts, 2-year labor Warranty - (3 Stars) Good warranty. They are going to hammer you to pay for an extended Warranty when you register the device. Then they are going to send you emails. Then they are going to call you. Frankly, it was a bit over the top. Finally, they left me alone. For now. All in all, on paper, it is a solid, best in class warranty. However, you can Google ProForm Warranty and see some horror stories. Hopefully I will never have to mess with this... If so, I have a feeling I will be back here to change my rating…
Fans (Not listed on the features?) (3 Stars) - These are nice to have. They blow right on your chest and help keep you cool. But they are the cheapest and loudest fans you will ever encounter. They literally rattle the housing. I do not expect them to last long…
So... Overall, you can see I rate the bells and whistles low. They are just there to drive the price up or to make us think there is extra value that does not exist. But all the treadmill makers are doing that, so you have no choice but to get a RACE TRACK on your 7-inch display that could have been a 4 inch display without it... That one still makes me say WTF? All the bells and whistles are cheaply made, and poorly implemented.
However, the mechanical aspects of this machine make up for it. They are not scrimping on the motor, the tread, the frame, and those are the most important things. If my fans stop working, who cares. If my motor stops, I CARE! So, after all my research, and using it DAILY for 6 months, I would buy it again, and that is the best recommendation I can give you.
Will update here if that changes!
This treadmill is very sturdy and feels like one that you would find at your local gym. My lenovo s8-50 tablet works great on it. I have a male to male aux cable that goes from the tablet to the ProForm treadmill so that sound comes out from the treadmill's speakers. The sound from the treadmill is loud and clear and I am able to adjust the volume from the console. What I really like about this treadmill is the wide belt and so I can zone out or watch a movie on it and not focus on foot placement.
Why 4 stars? There doesn't appear to be a setting to add your weight size to get an accurate calorie loss. That was surprising.
Unfolding the treadmill could have been made easier. You need to push the upper frame forward while pressing the latch with your foot. You will hear a noise but if you don't keep your foot on the latch, it will not unfold. Also, getting the right foot placement on the latch is a hit or miss. You may need a few attempts at lowering the treadmill. One more thing ... the item was slightly damaged during shipping but doesn't seem to affect the functionality.
You will need two people to assemble this treadmill as it is heavy. It took 2 1/2 hours to fully assemble. Well worth paying for Amazon home treadmill assembly service.
I will try and update review every few weeks or so.
Update: I put the machine together and it works really well. Aside from the cracks, which Amazon was nice enough to give a 10% refund, this is an excellent treadmill. I will update my review after a few months use
