Why settle for a small handle that’s tight around your hands and restricts your movements? Many kettlebell movements use two hands at once, so a large handle makes all the difference in your comfort and performance – especially for users with large hands. ProSource uses extra-large handles for a secure, comfortable grip and a better workout experience.
Protective Vinyl Coating
Color-coded vinyl coating helps you quickly distinguish between weights during workouts and gives a polished look. Even more importantly, it adds greater durability to the kettlebell, protecting it from scratches and damage while also protecting your floors. It helps reduce the noise from weights being dropped on the floor – perfect for homes, garages, and gym facilities.
Smooth Cast Iron, No Seams
Buy only the best quality kettlebells without seams or welds for an optimal workout. Seams on handles are painful on hands, especially during swings and snatches, but our smooth, solid cast iron design is all one piece and polished with a flawless finish for smooth movement and sturdy grip.

I like Kettlebell workouts. Kettlebells don't take up much room and you only need a few of them. In fact, you can do a surprisingly large number of different exercises using just a single Kettlebell. If you are new to Kettlebells you may not realize that a good quality Kettlebell can be quite pricey. Without considering a few important aspects of a Kettlebell, they may all look about the same so you might be inclined to simply buy the cheapest one you find. That would be a big mistake since a Kettlebell of inferior quality will have a profoundly negative effect when using it for exercise.
One of the most common indicators of a poor quality Kettlebell is discovered by looking at the underside of the handle. Typically Kettlebells are cast iron and made in a mold. The mold can leave a significant seam (flashing) that if not removed will result in an extremely difficult to handle Kettlebell. You will be very sorry if you buy a Kettlebell that has a nasty seam on the handle. This ProSource Kettlebell has a barely noticeable seam that I think is acceptable. My Kettlebell has just a couple small imperfections in the handle that I can feel when I grip it but they aren't significant enough to get too worried about.
This is a vinyl coated Kettlebell... not all are. That doesn't necessarily make it better or worse than plain cast iron Kettlebells, but it will help protect your wood floors from scratches if you are using them on wooden flooring. You also want a Kettlebell that is very flat on the bottom, not bumpy. If the Kettlebell can't sit on the floor without wobbling around, that can cause some problems with stability on some exercises. This Kettlebell has a very slight amount of wobble... its within the acceptable range for me.
I've seen some vinyl clad Kettlebells where the vinyl eventually gets cut. This results in the vinyl eventually tearing off either in bits and pieces or entirely. Sometimes you discover in those instances that the vinyl is covering up a pretty roughly cast Kettlebell, another indication of poor quality. You can sort of feel through the vinyl on these and the casting seems OK but if the vinyl does tear off eventually, you'll lose the weight indication that is printed on the vinyl. There isn't any weight indication cast in the iron.
These are better than some and not as good or as expensive as the top of the heap Kettlebells. But overall I'd say these are pretty good.
I could barely lift it, which is sad, as I used to lift 100 lb pumps onto a cart and even carry big old-fashioned laser printers up metal stairs at factories. Well, I was young. And that's the point. Strength diminishes as you age, unless you do weight-bearing exercise.
The 35 lb does work well for dead lifts: Sumo deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, suitcase deadlift (on one side, as you would lift a, yes, suitcase) and more. One surprising advantage of the big kettlebell for deadlifts. It takes up no more room than a big doorstop (well, a REALLY big door stop or say a soccer ball.) So I have this in a room, not a home gym, and I can do what would be a barbell deadlift and it takes up no more space than my dog's toy soccer ball. So if you have limited space for a home workout area, this 35lb (one Russian "pood") and even some heavier ones would be space-savers if you don't have room for a barbell set and the rack. Only--think, how is the UPS guy going to deliver it, because this 35lb one barely made it home.
I can do these--but I can't do the goblet squat or other deep-knee lifts or fancy one-legged lifts at this weight. And you should for some of these lifts be ultimately able to lift something like your body weight (hahahah. As. If.) There is a good page Girls Gone Strong with Karen Smith demo'ing some of the lifts even a 65 yr old person like me can do--but she yak-yaks through the video and you have to wait to get to her actually showing you the way to lift and describe good position, and then push replay on that time point to see it again. The rest of the time she's talking annoyingly and almost randomly, and she's lifting this thing in bare feet (which is deplorable) but it still is a good page for women to refer to. If she ever gets a good director for video, it'd be fantastic, as she shows good form to you--just, you have to wade through the yak and she doesn't repeat the move. Sigh.
So this bell works for the regular deadlifts but a light-lifting woman like me would use a six or ten pounder for some other kettlebell moves. In other words, you should probably buy this AND a lighter one for a complete workout.
I have to say, I adore the color. Hot violet-pink is one of my favorite colors and it gives me a charge just to see it. It probably gave the USP guy a hernia.
I own a couple other kettlebells for my home gym and I do buy quality equipment. I used to go to a gym where they didn't have their own set of kettlebells; it seemed like the ones they had were donated by people who didn't want theirs anymore. They were on the 'cheapy' side so because of that, I knew what to look for in good kettlebells.
The handle should be a little textured so that it doesn't fly at top speed out of your hands while your all sweaty. When you work kettlebells you really let them fly up so this is a must. At the time time you don't want the handles so rough that they're uncomfortable in your hand. These handles are just the right amount of grainy. It's smooth yet textured and allows for a good grip. Personally I use a great pair of crossfit gloves anyway, but sometimes you might not have them.
The candy coated shell is nice and thick. The bottom is somewhat flat -- flat enough to stay in place once you've put it down. I would highly endorse these kettlebells as a set for your home gym. They're strong and well-made.
