I had called Proactiv telling them what had happened (not mad) but staying open-minded because I truly thought this wouldn't happen the way it did, and what made me mad was the customer service. She was irritated I asked for a refund (barely making a dent in the bottles from use) and they had an additional balance that I totally did not have or buy anything else. At that point I was getting upset. I canceled my account F O R E V E R. I ended up getting refund and my balance back to $0.
What the heck is truly in this product? This is horrible.

It simply would not go away. The acne on my face doubled and the ProactivMD was not clearing them up. Instead, my face grew red and swollen, it was dry and it was painful. I was utterly embarrassed going out into public with inflamed red spots around the corners of my nostrils and on my chin. My skin was peeling constantly and it was extremely sensitive. I had to put antibiotic ointment on it at one point because it was so inflamed, painful and sore that it just simply was NOT healing. The only relief I had was when I put it on my face. This caused me to do some more research on ProactivMD and I was pretty disappointed in what I found, and I wish I had looked this up before I chose. ProactivMD lacks Salicylic acid and Benzoyl peroxide which kill bacteria and breaks up the dead skin on your face. I made the mistake just assuming that MD has it. I believe Proactiv Plus does but, I digress.
I wouldn't suggest this to a friend, or anyone really. I have left over ProactivMD and I don't even want to give it to my friends who break out for fear of them suffering from what I went thru. It's been a week since I've stopped; I've just been using Purity's Charcoal Wash instead and not only has my face begun to heal, it's not red and my breakouts in those particular areas have reduced dramatically. It's still irritated, still pealing from where it had been dried out so severely, but considering the amount of trauma my skin went through... I feel it's probably going to take another week or so to completely 'fix' itself. I do encourage anyone to do some research on this and try something else out before you put so much money into a product that may not even work, let alone could cause so much frustration/irritation it's not worth it. I know acne treatments aren't cheap, but man you shouldn't have to suffer even MORE!
