But , as some one has rightly commented, it's targetted to a mathematically inclined audience, capable of appreciating the need to quantify physics.
So dear readers,a prerequisite for a successful venture into solving Irodov problems is a good grasp of Vector Analysis and Calculus.
--I still miss those problems :-)
But, I warn that these books are for those who like ELEGANCE in science. For example if you always prefer to write (vector)F= m (vector)a instead of F = ma ...... if you always prefer to write (vector)a = d/dt (vector) r rather then crude a= x/t ........ then please take my words ...immediately buy this book ......you need this book and this book needs readers like you who can admire the grace of science !!
Irodov's all three books, including this one, were my all time favurite when I was in schools. They were so dear to me that I never allowed anybody to touch them. These are three out of very few books which develops relationship with their reader. They develop mechanics and electrodynamics in avery rigorius manor starting right from the scratch. For example Irodov would never forget to mention the basic assumptions about the sapce and time before he would speak about the newtons Laws of motion. He never forgets the limitation of each and every laws and always states t all the assumptions very precisely. Thats the beauty of Irodov's all three books. Whenever he uses V = IR he states "assuming the material is linear and obeys ohm's law" This is the elegance of physics ..... physics is very precise, very elegant, very gracefull ....... I learnt this from these book only.
A big thanks to Irodov !!
The other one of my dearest book is the third volume Feynman's Lectures. These are the books I am proud to posses !!

The book is a collection of problems. Period. Most of them are tough, none of them are easy and all of them are a joy to tackle. Sometimes it may take you even days to figure out a single problem (or maybe I was just stupid). I remember going to bed with a problem and waking up in the middle of the night just because I dreamed of a solution that might work. This book (along with Ressnick and Halliday) inculcated in me a deep understanding of the nature of Physics and the joy of solving problems through rigorous mathematical and analytical techniques. Many problems in Irodov involved not only a good understanding of physics, but also required mental alertness. A question in the "Optics" section could just as easily need an understanding of gravity, electricity and even mechanics.
This book is sure to improve your problem solving skills and, at the same time, get you to look at physics from a mathematical angle. Everyone must get a copy.
