I wish I could highlight all the parts of the book. So many great insights! Jesse narrates the book with consistency and with a goal in mind. Really well written and narrated in the audiobook, by Jesse itself. Definitely a book to check many times and in many moments. Great start for those in doubts and laking of direction on what to do in music. Is a music genre free, so can be applied to everyone.
I also add that this book is a great book about creativity in general, not only for musicians or music producers. Go get your copy. You won't regret.
I am in my thirties and have been trying to self-produce music that I'm happy with for my entire adult life. I've also read a million books like "The War of Art" that advise you to just battle your way through creative problems, leading me to believe that there is something inherently wrong with me that's preventing me from writing and finishing good music. This book explains very clearly and in great detail every mistake I've made, and why they're mistakes in the first place.
This book hasn't solved my problems for me, of course, but it has given me a clear starting point and a concrete strategy, not just for creativity in general but for the specific task of making emotionally resonant music that I can be proud of.
Highly recommended, and a huge thanks to Jesse for providing this resource!
