I have watched this light in almost-constant use in a busy (professoinal) shop, and it just continues to amaze! It gets tossed around, dropped, and dunked into all sorts of "gook", and like the good ol' Timex slogan, "It just keeps on tickin'"! The weak point in the whole thing seems to be the switch, which has become very "iffy", after lots and lots of use. Charge it overnight, and use it practically ALL day! It seems to last a lot longer than the advertised "4 1/2 hours per charge", but don't hold me to that! I'm sure it depends on the batteries! The LED count is a bit misleading, for what it's worth...3 of them are charge indicators, and don't provide working light, but no matter...the light this thing puts out is better than the "78-LED" unit currently on the market, plus this thing is smaller, and much easier to get up into those nooks and crannies under a suspension, for example. BUY IT- YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!

As a portable, rechargeable light, it works fine, and lasts for several hours with full charge. Haven't dropped it so I can't comment on its durability, and my battery still works after a couple years thus far (knock on wood).

However, since day one, when the light is stored and not in use for extended periods lasting over a week, the battery drains. To me, this is absolutely unacceptable because: 1) I would have to plan to recharge the battery in advance of using it, which is impractical for the majority of the time; 2) keeping it plugged in takes up one of the few, valuable outlets in my garage, not to mention the space it takes for basically having it "mounted" semi-permanently, so to speak; 3) without keep it plugged in 24/7, it's marketing as an "emergency" light really is a dubious function, as regular battery-operated flashlights would be significantly more reliable and accessible than this.

In addition, the edges of the round cup the magnet is placed in are proud (raised) relative to the magnet, and with it's rough edges, can scratch up painted and coated surfaces easily if accidentally dragged across it (my clear coated stainless steel tool cabinet sides show numerous scratches from the light slipping down it's surface).

Sears sells something similar looking under its Craftsman brand, so I'm not sure if that would be a better choice than this "professional grade" light.

I would not buy this again and will look to another brand when my light eventually fails.

I bought this light in October 2011 and it stopped working properly in May 2014. Now, the LEDs only come on when the electrical cord is plugged in, so I'm guessing either the batteries are shot or the battery charger is shot. Maybe the batteries couldn't handle sitting in my unheated garage during this past winter's polar vortex period.

When it was working, the light was plenty bright, but I found the size and shape to be a bit awkward when working on my car. It often seemed the light was weighted such that the LEDs were pointed down when the light was laid flat on the ground.

The light worked fine when doing work in my attic, I could stand the light upright on the floor and direct it to cast light on the area I was working.

The hook on top is plastic, seems very cheap and frail, and doesn't swivel, so I didn't use it much.

I picked up this light at my local tool store as an impulse buy. It is one of the handiest tools I own. It provides all the light you need for any task and the light is pure white to boot. The charge lasts a long time, though they recommend you recharge it every month. I would not want to be without mine.

I bought this shop light to replace a 13 watt florescent light I have used for years. The attributes that attracted me was the cordless ability and the positive reviews. I have been using it often for a few weeks and it has done well. It lasts several hours on a charge, the longest I have used it it five hours. The brightness is okay, but is a little more directional than my old light. The magnet is small but okay because the LED light weighs very little. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't used it very long and the fit and finish is just good. I am really enjoying the cordless ability.

I got my copy of this item the other day. Being cordless is wonderful, I no longer need to worry about dragging an extension cord around the garage and I don't need to worry about whether I want my drill or my work light. The magnetic base means that you can stick this to the back of the hood or a fender for working on carbs.

I bought this because I was searching for an alternative to a 120v fluorescent drop light. I like the light, but the first time I used it, I bumped the light and it fell to the floor and broke the hook off the top. I went to McMaster Carr and bought a super powerful small magnet with a ring and installed it where the screw for the hook use to pass thru. I think it is much more functional that way and it easily holds it own weight when under the car. Now I just need to replace the magnet at the midsection of the light with a stronger one.
All and all, I like the light and it is bright. I pretty much use mine in the garage where the magnets work great. I would buy this light again.

UPDATE***As an update to my light review I would like to add that my light is no longer working. I leave it plugged in all the time and apparently it has some sort of battery issue. It works with the cord plugged in, but not on battery. The battery is putting out around 14VDC but does not seem to operate the light. I dissected it and debated on repairing it, but decided it not worth the time and effort

Rather than attempt to locate the village in China that produced this light I have decided to just buy a Bayco product. My cord reel is made by Bayco in Texas and I had one issue and received excellent customer service. I hope their LED light is made in USA too. The light was bright and worked well when it was working, but did not have the longevity I had expected. I changed my rating as a result of my experience.
