The grater itself works just fine. The issue is with the bottom design and cleanliness. The rubber gasket around the bottom is designed and attached in such a way that grating things (such as cheese) forces food into the gasket between the metal grater body and the rubber gasket. Simple enough to take the gasket off and wash, except that it's a pain to get back on, and absolutely needs to be done with every use (unless you enjoy food particles lining the gasket). With leaving the gasket off, the metal at the bottom is bent/rounded upwards and not sealed, so there is likely food particles also getting shoved in there.
The pros are that the grater grates well, and aside from the above mentioned concerns is constructed with good material and I don't doubt that it will be durable.
**Updated 1/17/18. The company reached out to me after seeing my concerns and addressed them with me. Outstanding customer service, and an honest company that cares about its customers. I look forward to potentially seeing an updated product some day, and I will certainly buy Spring Chef products in the future.
