About the authors

Todd Klindt has been a professional computer nerd for 15 years, specializing in Microsoft SharePoint for the last six years. His love affair with SharePoint began one slow day at the office when he discovered SharePoint Team Services 1.0 on the Office XP CD and decided to install it. The rest is history. In 2006 he was honored to be awarded the MVP award from Microsoft for Windows SharePoint Services. He has had the pleasure of working with SharePoint farms both large small. He has written several books and magazine articles on SharePoint. Todd has presented sessions on SharePoint at many major conferences both in the United States as well as Europe and Asia and does the user group circuit as well. He chronicles his SharePoint adventures on his blog.

Shane is a giant SharePoint nerd who has been working with it for about 9 years. He started SharePoint911 which was acquired by Rackspace in 2012. He still works for Rackspace where he is leading the SharePoint Product and Marketing group. Microsoft has recognized him as a SharePoint Server MVP for the last 8 years which is a testament to him having a big mouth when it comes to SharePoint and his love of the community. When he isn't doing SharePoint you can find him chasing his kids or playing golf in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I do a lot of Project Server 2010 work and this books covers a lot of material not found in the project server books too.
It is a little long and I would say that it is for an admin who does more of the server/farm side of things. If you are a designer/app developer then only about half of this book relates to you directly. However reading all the features and what is availalbe on every end is very valuable to know which is why I thouroughly enjoyed this book.
I spent considerable time searching the internet (Google), and anything I can get my hands on to referance "how to create communities". Everything I found spoke about communities, but not a step by step on how to create one. Why is this so hard to provide to readers?.
The company I work for spent $1,000.00 for two DVD on SharePoint 2010 "designing a sharepoint environment" and "administrating a sharepoint environment". After watching the DVD's in a two weeek period, nothing was mentioned about how to create communities, only tellling about communities and how great they are. I figured this book "Professional SharePoint 2010 Administration" would be the solution to all my SharePoint 2010 questions.
This book "Professional SharePoint 2010 Administration" is good information but does not walk you through anything completely. This means they expect you to start from their screen shots, assuming that you know how to get there. It would be nice if they detailed what menu to click on to get to the screen they are showing you.
This is my first review so forgive me if I left anything out.
Feel free to contact me.
Thank you.
This is a very good book for a person who is good at SP 2007 and have a hang of SharePoint. This book gives you a very good head start on SharePoint 2010 and gives you confidence to be a very good administrator. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested to know more about SharePoint 2010 and to start your career in SharePoint. Once you through this book, you should buy the SharePoint 2010 Developers book. I am planning to buy one soon.
And, of course nothing to say about Amazon's Shipping. THE BEST, very well packaged and clean book. Would recommend amazon.com anytime to one and all. Thanks amazon and Wrox Rocks!
Thanks

I especially like how the SharePoint terminology and functions are described and explained in detail by the author.
