Helps You Know What You Don't Know

I found this book both interesting and challenging. As a user of SharePoint 2007 until a recent upgrade to SharePoint 2010, I had done most customisation using the web browser. This book took it to the next level, and perhaps the one after that. Now I know that there is a lot more I need to know.
The book was well-paced and began with simple customisations that became more involved quite quickly. A working knowledge of SharePoint Designer 2010 would be a very useful thing.
Great resource and I can see myself dipping back into it as I continue my SharePoint branding journey

Very Good Book

I think this book is absolutely awesome. I will be recommending it to every one of my SharePoint customers. In the SharePoint 2007 days, there was no consolidated book or information source that brought together SharePoint branding. We relied on tons of blogs from SharePoint MVPs and experts to piece together a solution.

This book really shows you how Master Pages, Page Layouts, and Content Types are used to create a full internet solution. Having this book really shows that SharePoint 2010 really completes now in the WCM space and it is not rocket science to create a well branded website.

Plus all of the code samples work end to end - tested them myself.

The one to get for branding Sharepoint 2010

I have been waiting on this one to get released for some time now and its here!

Randy is top notch in his knowledge of branding SharePoint. I loved his 2007 branding book and this one is up to par with his previous one. The examples were easy to follow and everything was laid out and explained in perfect detail.
I would also recommend the Real World SharePoint book as a great companion to this one which he also contributed to.
A must have for those SharePoint projects that need to look like more than just the out-of-the-box SharePoint look.

This a book written for a developer and provides a step by step view of how to brand sharepoint. the author peppers his experience throughtout the book to help the reader. the author also provides tool suggestions to help the reader with the mechanics of branding. there are code samples available for download from wrox.

What the book doesnt cover is the actual branding/design aspect, and the author clearly states this isnt the focus of the book. this is one of the most contentious areas of any branding exercise and one that will make our break your branding efforts.

It is easy to read and covers many aspects of branding and user interface which have real world applications. I originally bought the paperback edition, but decided I must be able to carry it with me, so I purchased a Kindle edition as well. Well done to Randy, Paul, John, Jacob and Larry....
