This book is written very well and covers great topics that are usually absent from similar programming language books. However, I cannot recommend this book as it is already outdated. Professional Swift was released just two months ago, and with Swift 2.0 released around the same time, many of the book's examples are now full of deprecated code. I believe the author could post updates that would make the code in the book usable, but as of now he has not done so.

It should be stated again that the book is very easy to understand and well written. It is just already outdated. Save yourself the frustration and buy a book that is specifically about Swift 2, or wait for this book to be updated.

Going well so far, the explanations are pretty good, but I'm only on chapter 3. I have zero experience in objective-C - no experience in any C in fact, but I code in Java at work so there's still plenty of crossover. I didn't want to get the Beginning Swift book as I want to crack on with some ios apps, but I am disappointed that this Wrox book doesn't have the exercises at the end of every chapter like the Wrox 'Beginning' books. I find that diligently doing all the exercises in 'Beginning' books has been the best way to cement what I've read and work through any gaps in my understanding.
