I’m very conflicted

I’m not going to lie, I bought this opener because it looked nice and I wanted to impress my customers. That being said; IF YOU ARE A SERVICE INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL this opener is not ideal. It’s not terrible, just finicky and takes lots a bit of time to use properly. The foil-cutter is a bit of a task to access but will eventually break in. The material seems very sturdy, however engineering needs some work.
My biggest pet peeve was the corkscrew mechanism. The angle at which the screw penetrates the cork is too accute. The cork screw itself is too thick, and is chromed for whatever reason. I have never broken so many corks in a three day period in my whole career before a wine rep blessed me with one of his. If you’re trying to open a composite cork then you may as well forget it because the surface of the cork will start blistering. The corkscrew almost works like a drill in that sense. A thinner, more angled corkscrew would make this wine key 10x better in my opinion. I would NEVER attempt to open a vintage wine with this key.
Now I know it seems like I’m vengefully ripping this wine key, but honestly it’s not terrible. To avoid the cork breakage a much greater deal of downward force is required. It’s just not something people in the service industry have time or patience for. I’ve been using it at home and I can’t complain. It looks nice, the material is solid, the build is sturdy. Not too shabby.
