First, a confession: I bought this book without ever having tried a Zombie in my life. I'm not terribly well-versed in mixology. I don't possess much knowledge about alcoholic beverages beyond remembering which red wines I like, or that I don't particularly care for gin.
That said, I'm always eager to learn, and this book, ZOMBIE HORDE, is a gem of a resource. I loved learning the history of the Zombie, and Professor Cocktail's comments on the many varieties were not only helpful but fun to read. I couldn't wait to dive in and try a few of my own, so yesterday, with my iPad in hand, we created two of the easier versions to get ourselves started. Mm-mmm!! Wonderful! Directions were clear, ingredients well defined, and the results left us thirsty for more! Can't get better than that!

This book is much more than a collection of recipes - it's entertainment as well. I'd love to buy print copies of this to give as gifts. (Hint!)
I'd also like to see more titles by Professor Cocktail (another hint!). He takes on the Zombie with great enthusiasm and energy. I'd love to see him bring that spirit (get it?) to more books like this one. They would be auto-buys for me!

I do enjoy this book- I first bought the Kindle version when the print version was not available. But ebooks require a nearby device and don't always paginate correctly. So I then bought the print version. Now it's hard to read because the print is too light and too small, unnecessary because even at one drink per page, the print never goes below 2/3 the way down. Content-wise it's missing the Aku Aku version in Beachbum Berry's book, which is one of my favorites.

The Zombie was one of the first Tiki cocktails that i ever tried and firmly established itself as one of my favourites. The version i had i later learned used the recipe from David Emburys book 'The Fine Art Of Mixing Drinks', which you will also find here, but as my knowledge of tropical drinks grew so did the number of variations i found existed of this drink. But now i know just how many exactly thanks to this book. I'd love to see a hard copy made with waterproof (rum-proof) pages as i'm sure there would be a lot of spillage after making a few of these potent drinks which you could make for a quite a long time with so many different recipes contained in the one place. A very good book well worth the cost to learn so much about an amazing tropical drink.

The Professor has written the definitive tome, or is it tomb, on the initial and renowned Tiki Drink. Numerous recipes are included in this spectacularly researched ebook, including some that should only be viewed for their hysterical content, i.e., Gas Station pamphlet. However, some of the horde may prove to be worth a sip or three. The Professor's commentary for many of the entries provides guidance to the student in the adventure. Perhaps a companion volume on the Mai-Tai may be in the offing?

Sadly, I was taken in by the large number of good reviews and discounted the more accurate critical reviews. This (evidently) self-published book is like a bound stack of print-outs from a cocktail website...LITERALLY. In almost all of the cases, the author details where the recipes originate...many from other published works...books, newspaper articles or websites. There is no design to speak of. Even the typeface shows the pixels as if it were printed on a bad dot matrix printer. I knew the minute I opened it that I would not be keeping it even though I am a compulsive tropical cocktail book purchaser. Save your money...spend it, as another reviewer suggested...on a Beachbum Berry title.

Es wird hier ein Rezept an das andere geklatscht, und zwar ohne jegliches Layout oder Design. Und nur weil irgendwer einen Drink "Zombie XY" nennt, muss das Resultat noch lange nix mit "dem Original" zu tun haben. Es gibt keinerlei Story, keine Tasting Notes, keine Fotos. Nur einen kurzen Satz zu jedem Drink, der aber nicht immer sonderlich aussagekräftig ist.
