About the Author
Michael Charles Tobias is the author of 45 books and several hundred essays, in addition to having written, directed and produced nearly 150 films. An ecologist, mountaineer, explorer, anthropologist and historian, his field research has taken him to some 80 countries where his passion for animal liberation, non-violence activism and zoosemiotic cybernetics, has resulted in his uniquely quirky approach to what he calls “pragmatic idealism” – in the tradition of Parmenides, Ovid, Cervantes, Milton, Shelley, Joyce, Hugh Lofting, Jean-Paul Sartre and Samuel Beckett. “Professor Parrot and the Secret of the Blue Cupboard” is very much a sequel to Tobias’ 1836-page illustrated epic, “The Adventures of Mr. Marigold.” Tobias lives with his life-long partner and wife, the ecologist, author, filmmaker and philanthropist, Jane Gray Morrison. Illustrator Adonna Khare received her MFA from California State University, Long Beach, receiving the distinguished achievement in creative activity award and the Werby Scholarship. Her exhibition career has included shows in New York, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Selected works have been acquired by prestigious private collections around the world as well as permanent museum collections. She lives with her husband, daughter, horse, two dogs and cat.

A showcase for kindness and decency, 'Professor Parrot' is a great piece of literature. If only the techniques that made 'Avatar' so memorable could be applied to this marvelous allegory. There must be at least several hundred million human souls planet-wide, who share a passion for nature and the welfare of animals. Those people are a built in audience for a Professor Parrot movie. Parents who care would surely bring their children to see such a movie. James Cameron, I beg you; apply your magic to this wonderful story by author, Michael Tobias.
A must read for anyone who cares about the future of the planet. Highest recommendation.
