The Professor: Tai Chi's Journey West is a feature documentary about Tai Chi and one of its greatest masters, Cheng Man-Ching, a man who brought Tai Chi and Chinese culture to the West during the swinging, turbulent 60s. Though Cheng is an important transformational figure, his teachings have been overlooked. This documentary film tells the story of his remarkable life and features Tai Chi as both a martial art and a spiritual practice.
"Very moving. It reveals how completely universal and accessible Tai Chi is to anyone. A perfect martial art for this time of fear and anger." --Julie Taymor
"For those of us who study these arts and are certainly familiar with Professor Cheng Man-Ching, the chance to see any footage of him in action at all is a real treat. Excellent." --AV Maniacs

I am extremely gratified this film communicates this so well and documents it for future generations. Very moving. A deep bow and many thanks to all responsible. F.W. Cohasset, Ma
Aimed at a more general audience, it is lacks some depth; but still very enjoyable.
I found the interviews fascinating and the old footage really interesting. it is a good overview of Tai Chi Chuan and covers all aspects of the art from form to pushing hands. It is not an instructional video, so you will need a class for that, more like a biographical documentary. Really nicely filmed and great to see Tai Chi shown in such a professional way!
