1870 Kirsty Thompson is determined to begin her own business bringing beloved Scottish fabrics and yarns to Philadelphia but first she must meet the men and women who weave the plaids and spin the wool. How will she ever escape her protective older siblings and sail to Scotland?
Albert Watson is a medical doctor focusing on research, especially that of Joseph Lister and his sterilization techniques. He speaks at universities in America and in England while visiting his London relatives. As he prepares to sail for just such an engagement, Kirsty Thompson boards his ship to beg him to take her with him. What’s a gentleman to do? Albert cancels his trip across the ocean to escort Miss Thompson back to Philadelphia and finds there is danger afoot for her and her family.
Soon he comes to realize there is also danger for his heart, even for a man who rarely pulls his nose from a medical journal. He finds himself unable to put Miss Kirsty Thompson out of his thoughts, where they belonged, because certainly a beautiful, ambitious, and charming young woman could have no interest in him. Or could she?

Will they be able to overcome their differences when they have so much to share…
I read the previous book and since I have been curious to know what kind of romantic adventure awaited all these family’s siblings.
I first thought the next book would be about the elder sister when in fact it is about the youngest.
Kirsty is a lively determined young woman, she knows what she wants and her worth, not in term of wealth but respect.
And while she thought she would be attracted to a certain kind of men, she is herself surprised to be drawn to bookish scholar Albert. She is very far away from her portrayed hero, still he is the one who stepped in when she was in need and behind his intellectual demeanor, there is a man who will fought for her.
Albert has been attracted to Kirsty from their first encounter, but she being so full of life and beautiful, how can she see him, he who is no hero’s material. He is content with his life as it is, he makes do with his waspish mother, without a second thought about her cantankerousness and how it might affect others.
Yet when threats change of nature and do not only jeopardize Kirsty’s person but also their possible future, what path will he choose when most of his life he accommodated with his entourage, never really needing to ascertain his will.
So while Albert is the most acknowledged of them both, Kirsty is the most pragmatic, she sees bigger than him, understanding how a grain of sand can change an outcome.
So as she adds some water to her wine, he must mature and accepts leaving things as they are is the right path to failure so to avoid that he will have to bang on the table which is the very opposite of what he is.
4.5 stars
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen lovemaking scenes.
I have been granted an advance copy by the author and Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tour, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

A Heartwarming Romantic Adventure
1870 Philadelphia, headstrong Kirsty Thompson, finds herself a predicament. In a series of events Kirsty becomes an unwanted passenger aboard a steamship bound for New York. A ghastly innocent mistake indeed, one that will require a gentlemanly rescue . Kindhearted, medical doctor Albert Watson, is easy to step into this role.
Albert is drawn to the vivacious and beautiful, Kirsty Thompson. He rarely entertains anything outside his medical research and speaking engagements, but he finds Kirsty Thompson very addictive.
Kristy, and her Thompsons siblings have been under a constant threat from those who who want nothing more to see the the downfall of their family. Steaming from an illegitimate cousins claim to the Earl of Traviston, hailing all the way from Scotland.
Will Kristy and Albert, budding romance even take off, with so much set against it from developing?
Holly Bush never disappoints, The Professor's Lady is lovely and engaging addition to the The Thompsons of Locust Street series. The two main characters are likable, and their story is so sweet, and engaging. The narration draws you in and the author lively writing holds your attention from start to finish.
Excited to read the next installment, The Captain’s Woman in 2023.
