Danielle Gerome, graduating student of Colorado, just suffered from a great loss. While she’s grieving the loss of her parents that passed from a tragic accident she’s shocked to be comforted by Shane Bancroft, the art professor of the school and also a man who she’s had a crush on since she took his class many years ago.
Unbeknownst to Danielle, Shane has also admired her from afar, ever since she took his history class four years ago. Even after all these years, he can’t help himself from thinking about her and can’t seem to get her out of his head—which he should. She’s a student and he’s a professor. Nothing good can come out of this. Especially when he’s so close to getting tenure.
But when he sees her distressed with the passing of her parents, he knows he has to comfort her. And soon, he realizes that getting tenure isn’t so important if Danielle’s in his life bringing him peace.
My favorite quote:
“Upset people made stupid decisions. Infatuated people did too…”
Danielle Gerome lost her parents in a tragic accident at the end of her college term where she would graduate from the University of Colorado with a degree in Biology. She had actually started in the Fine Art by went to Biology which she did enjoy. She was working at getting nothing less than an A in her classes.
Shane Bancroft was the professor in Art and on semester he was able to have Danielle in his class. He was obsessed with her and she with him and yet neither acted on it by anything other then being where he was and by art work.
Then one night as he was grading papers in the library he saw her sitting there occasionally wiping tears away and acting as though she did not hear to final call that the library was closing. That had been almost 4 years after they first met.
Luckily she was graduating soon and he was hoping to get the tenure at the University and then perhaps they could see where the obsession would take them.
Shane became enamored of Danielle and she became his muse, without her knowledge. He had paintings and sketches of her that he did up mostly from memory. Danielle was working late one night in the library and was trying to forget her sorrows. When Professor Hunk, asked to walk her home she ended up crying on his shoulder in his office. When they get caught by another professor Danielle makes up a story that they are engaged but didn't want to say anything to anyone until after graduation. Finding the sketches of herself she ended up leaving Shane because she became spooked.
There is more to this story but it is really good and deserves to be read instead of having someone tell you everything that happens. It's a quick, easy read, and was thoroughly enjoyable.
