From the Author

We combined our thoughts, experience about life in order to come out with this novel. We created a suspenseful cliffhanger on how Sharona's future will turn out to be. In our concluding chapter PHARAOHS' PLOT, we ended the story with a big surprise. Stay tuned!

The first half of the book is a story of a lady who has lost her husband in an accident, learns that she is two months pregnant and then meets this really nice guy. You immediately don't trust him because he's too nice. Kinda boring so far. I won't spoil the ending, but it's weird, somewhat of a stretch and leaves you scratching your head. Then the real frustration: you turn the page and all it says is: "To Be Continued". I've only read a few books where the author pulls this stunt - baiting you to buy more books. Not me.........

Overall, I liked this book. It had a good storyline with a well developed plot. Sharona's character was definitely likeable and someone that I think readers can relate to. The story centers around the widowed single mother's love affair with the mysterious doctor, Diego. I thought their courtship was well developed and believable, though there was enough forshadowing that I wasn't all that surprised by how certain things unfolded. The writing itself was pretty good, but some of the dialogue seemed a little dull at times. The author worked some humor in, which I enjoyed. There is a part where a friend suggests to Sharona that she put on a little black dress and Sharona quips back that she'd have to sew two together... I laughed out loud at that part. I didn't go five stars on this one for the following reasons. As I mentioned, parts of the dialogue between characters seemed to drag on a bit, particularly prior to a certain big plot twist after Sharona's getaway with Diego. I don't want to say more than that at risk of giving a spoiler. Another reason is that there were a few misspellings and grammar issues. Not major or frequent, but I noticed at least two. Third, the beginning of the book that sets up the rest of the story moved too quickly. Jason is living one minute, dead the next, and cremated the third. Had the author maybe stretched out the beginning a little and given the reader a chance to get emotionally attached to Jason, then I think it would have made me more personally invested during the first third of the book. That withstanding, by time you get halfway through, you're so invested in Sharona and her son that I don't think it really matters. Like I said at the beginning, I thought this was a pretty good book that I'm glad to have read and I'd recommend it to friends.

Story line okay but nothing remarkable...character develop good...interesting twist at the end...have read many Kindle books and have heard people complain about spelling and grammar...never bothered me before...this book had numerous spelling and grammatical errors...too many to count...bothered the flow of my reading...very poor proof reading.

Title - Secrets and Lies (Jason Heart Series bk 1)
Author - Ethan McKenize and Natashiah Jansen

Jason and Sharona Black are in the most romantic place to celebrate their honeymoon, Costa Rica. After taking a short trip across a very busy street to a photo shop, Jason is struck and killed by a car. Sharona was waiting for him in the coffee shop, she looked up into his eyes as he waved and smiled to his new bride for the last time. Devasted Sharona tries to carry on without the love of her life. With the help of Edward, Jason's father and Felicia, Sharona's best friend she soon gets her life going, only to discover she is pregnant.

Jason Jr. (JJ) is now 3 years old and Sharona is a costume designer for movie sets. Sharona and JJ seem to be doing well, living day to day and building a life. While having a night out with Felicia, Sharona meets Diego Cruz, who is a scientist at Dragma Laboratories. Just so happens that Jason was a scientist and worked for the same laboratory. Soon Diego is sweeping Sharona off her feet. Just as Sharona feels its time to move on with her life, she is plagued with strange dreams of Jason and a green box.

Felicia makes arrangements for Sharona to consult with Madam Leila, who is an Egyptian sand reader. She quickly tells Sharona that Jason is trying to send her a message, once she finds the "green" box she will learn what the secret is and what her future holds.

Edward and Felicia become uncomfortably with Diego, they feel he is moving to fast Sharona. He seems to good to be true and just after a few dates he wants to marry her. How odd is it that he worked at the same place Jason does. To many strange things start happening and the story takes a turn.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

First I need to say that I was well pleased to read a book from a fellow South African. This book is the collaboration between two authors and they did a splendid job creating this suspense filled plot. The main character, Sharona was realistic and believable as we get to know her. Losing her husband on their honeymoon, and coping with a unexpected pregnancy you could really feel for her through out the whole stage of coping with it all. Her supporting system beautifully crafted to enhance the story even more. When she finally came up and decided to move on she met Diego. Her world had just turned around.
Soon bodies piled up and unexplained occurrences created a underline tension that kept you glued to the book. Wondering and guessing at the outcome. The ending well fitting and beautiful.
A great read and book I can recommend for those who love a good romance and still believe that love never dies...with enough suspense to keep you guessing till the end.
Love the new cover
