Yesterday afternoon I spent an hour or so researching the bio of Peter Schweizer. The blurb for this book doesn't mention much about him although it does mention several of his previous books ...which I have not read. According to what I found, the author is the President of Government Accountability Institute (GAI). I did a little more research on 'Clinton Cash:...." and checked several sources on the internet and this is what I found...... 'Clinton Cash...." apparently had some factual errors in it that were corrected after publication. (7 or 8 passages) and it is also mentions that the Clinton Foundation admitted that it had made some mistakes and they had implemented new rules... That is as far as I went

There is a certain amount of trust, I believe, when reading any book but especially now with books on politics being published at an alarming rate it is even more important that we trust what is being written. I read with an open mind and trust this author that the information presented is credible and well-researched.

Such an interesting topic for me...And, as my title suggests, the abuse of power does indeed run deep. The author has presented 'corporate documents and legal findings from around the globe' (as stated in the description for the book).

In the book itself, eight politicians are discussed and in detail. Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, Eric Garcetti and Sherrod Brown. I will admit that I was interested in Bernie Sanders the most as I am from Vermont. And, with the race for the Democratic nomination in full swing, Elizabeth Warren, and Joe Biden were next on my list.

According to the author this abuse of power comes in different forms. It may be that they use their positions to advance their position; it may be that they use their positions to advance and enrich themselves, using public power for personal gain and the use of the judicial system to right social wrongs. As one may envision, the more power one has, the more abuse of power is possible. And, there are financial ties to special interest.

Am not going into detail about the eight mentioned in this book. I will admit that some were shocking revelations to me. It is amazing what one will do when power is at your beck and call. This book should be on your 'read' list prior to placing your vote in the upcoming Presidential election. The information presented in this one could very well change your thought process. Personally, I do not hold the same ideas about most of these individuals as I did prior to reading this one.

Lots of notes are in the text so one can go to the back of the book, if interested, to check the sources. I thought it was a well researched book from the notes given.

For me, a most interesting read and am glad that I purchased it. The manners in which power has been abused was indeed an eye opener (in some cases) for me. I think we all know that with the accumulation of power, there is the tendency to abuse it. Doesn't make it right but...

Highly recommended.

Fantastic book, so revealing. The hypocrisy, lies, self-dealing of these people in our government. I take solace knowing God has seen everything they do and everything they have done. They can't take all their wealth to the grave but they will answer to God for their actions. Every book Peter Schweitzer writes is informative, based on concrete evidence (not Russia, Russia) and written in a concise manner. After reading Peter's books you will want to spit on all of these so-called leaders.

First of all… major kudos must be given to the author… simply for the “classic” marketing title… “PROFILES IN CORRUPTION”… which plays so powerfully off the classic book “PROFILES IN COURAGE”… written in 1955 by then Senator John F. Kennedy. The mental AND emotional link between the two… for anyone in the know… hits not just a home-run… but a grand slam home-run. Where JFK’s book tells of the courageous acts of integrity by eight senators… Schweizer’s book tells the almost shameful and spineless (and hypocritical) tale of eight current political figures. (Kamala Harris… Joe Biden… Cory Booker… Elizabeth Warren…. Sherrod Brown... Bernie Sanders… Amy Klobuchar… Eric Garcetti). Anyone who still seriously considers supporting these corrupt… or at the very least ten-faced (two-faced wouldn’t come close to their disingenuous… deceitful… and yes… CORRUPT… actions!) individuals… would either certainly fit into one of the four groups I listed in my review title… have no scruples… or made a deal long ago with the devil.

Before any potential reader from either side of the aisle… or in the middle of the aisle… says this is a prejudicial… or fact less diatribe by an author with an agenda… let me make something as clear as the polished glass that protects the Hope Diamond! This is one of most detailed… verified… books I’ve ever read. THERE ARE HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS… OF DOCUMENTED FOOTNOTES!! The author even in a few unique areas will openly state that a very-very specific part of a “maneuver” couldn’t be exactly verified chapter-verse-sentence. I don’t remember seeing that much transparency ever… in such a hard hitting political corruption expose’.

Just a few examples to whet your appetite for almost endless disgustingly intriguing details… when it comes to Joe Biden and his “borderline” (being kind) or worse… legally challenged… maneuverings that benefitted his family and friends greatly. Be aware… it is waaaay more than the current public unveiling surrounding his son Hunter. It is just as shocking the deals for Biden’s brothers… daughter and son-in-law… a hundred thousand homes being built in Iraq… millions of dollars to charter schools… and sooo much more… all benefiting family members. The now… out of the Presidential race… Kamala Harris’s… shameful affair with married San Francisco politician Willie Brown when she was twenty-nine-years-old… and he was sixty-years-old. Her lack of doing the right thing during the Church sexual abuse scandal… her later marriage to a lawyer… whose firm handled clients that should have been duly prosecuted by Harris in her role as attorney general of California… and she didn’t prosecute…. And on and on. Cory Booker… the unsuccessful… self-aggrandizing… Walter Mitty-like… Spartacus… moment. His chest-pumping pledges to stay the course in a tent around the clock in a crime ridden area of Newark… but would sneak out at night and “return early the next morning.”

This is just a tip of the iceberg of the detailed “DOCUMENTED” treasure trove of embarrassing… misleading… at times illegal… and almost always… immoral… facts… regarding the “corrupt-eight”. This book is so educationally eye opening… that if I was running against one of these people… or if I was a reporter… or fair journalist… I wouldn’t leave home without having read this book… underlined half of it… and have it by my side at all times as… a reference book… as proof… as a political bible.

Any analysis of powerful figures that concludes they are not what they pretend to be demands courage from the writer, such is the case here where Peter Schweizer assesses some of the leading progressive political leaders in the US. All of those scrutinised in this thoroughly researched volume are either already standing, or intend to stand, for the position of President of the United States. What is also quite clear is that none of them are remotely worthy of that Office. In each case it is obvious that despite what they claim, all have used, or are using their elected office to enrich themselves, their families and cronies. America does not need people like that running the country, it needs individuals like Donald J Trump, or those like him. Having spectated from afar on events since Mr Trump was elected, you can see, at least in part, why there is so much antipathy towards him, he is a danger to a political class, many of whom are more intent on personal gain than they are serving the American people.
