I am not sure if I am bemused or confused by the low-raters who gave this app just one star because it was 'too boring' for them. Have any of them ever seen a _real_ candle? With a real candle, you light it, and it's lit. You move it, and the flame wavers. You blow hard on it and it goes out. That's it. No flying angry birds, no sound effects-- just a candle flame.
This app is the same, on a phone... on the Kindle Fire, which has no microphone, you can't blow it out. On the other hand, if you lay the Kindle flat, after a few minutes the candle suffocates in its own wax and goes out by itself (with no risk of getting wax all over the tablecloth, which is miserable to try to clean).
The brightness can be controlled, using the same controls with which you set the colors for the candle and background, and for the size of the flame. It makes a pretty light (I use it to move around our bedroom without waking my spouse), and costs nothing.
However, for the reviewers (very young teens?) who find it boring, I admit that it's true-- it doesn't shoot birds at frogs, or kill aliens, or jump over obstacles to capture gold coins while killing monsters. It's probably not for you.

I admit it - this was absolutely an impulse download for me. I'd seen I listed day after day, and finally gave in - and what do you know? It's actually a fun little app. On my tablet (Acer Iconia A500) it looks a bit silly -- the candle and flame are huge, like high-church-Paschal-candle scale -- but it makes me smile. The ad is fairly unobtrusive. I think I'll pop this one on my HTC Inspire as well.

This is one of the coolest things they have come out with in a long time. It serves no purpose other than just being a neat toy!

I like that you can choose the color of the flame / smoke / candle / background. I also like that even though I don't have a microphone to "blow" it out ( Kindle Fire ) , I can snuff it out with my finger....and relight it with my finger. I just wish the image wasn't so close up. I would like to see more of the body of the candle even if it's just a stubby candle stick.

This is by far the coolest thing! I have yet to find a good purpose for it, but its simply that entertaining. You can extinguish the flame with your finger, and have the candle change colors! The best is that the flame looks extremely real!

It's a candle app. You can use it at a concert instead of a lighter; you can use use it to make a late-night run to the bathroom (or kitchen, or wherever...) so you don't have to turn on a light and risk waking up your spouse; you can use it during a power failure so you don't have to be in total darkness. It doesn't give off negative ions like a real candle, but if you just need a little light, well, there you are. Stop expecting it to be a game that's going to keep you entertained. It's a CANDLE. That's it.

My issue with it is that it goes out for no reason sometimes. That would be annoying if I was using it during a power failure, as I can't deal with being in the pitch dark...

Nice and simple - displays a candle, and uses the accelerometer and microphone to control the candle.

Now that I have a protective case with a stand, I'm hoping to be able to use this as our reading light as I'm going to bed, but I think the angle might be wrong on the case - last night I held the Kindle candle angled towards the book, but it wasn't very comfortable.

The only thing that could be better about this app, is a more sensitive microphone - we have to blow at the mic pretty hard before the candle will go out.

This is pretty cute. Kinda mesmerizing to look at. Interesting that you can turn the kindle on it's side and the flame will tilt....
