Mine's 4 months old now. Reading the reviews about the neck, I never pick it up by the neck and haven't washed it in the dishwasher or microwaved with it (for those who are considering doing that). I only fill to fill line. However, when lifting the measuring tube out, it does leak out. I combat this by squeezing the rubber bulb and measuring first in the bottle, lift quickly above the oil remaining behind but keeping the bottom of the tube inside the decanter, then relax my pressure on the bulb so that the oil rises up inside the tube and tip the dropper up as soon as it clears the rim of the decanter.
This helps to keep the measured oil inside and not make a mess. It does get oil up into the bulb, but that hasn't been a problem. No, I haven't washed it yet. Just wiped down the outside of the decanter. This is just so incredibly handy for cooking with my olive oil! I should give it only 4 stars, but I wanted folks to be sure to read this.

LEAKS! Not the same quality as original item from "Good Eats" show
This is not the same item we purchased many years ago after seeing it on Alton Brown's "Good Eats" show (our original one was great, but got dropped and developed a small crack that subsequently leaked - totally our fault). This version has a seam around the bottom of the bottle that is a weak spot - IT LEAKS. At first we thought we were being messy with the oil dispenser since we kept finding oil all around the bottom every time we reached for it. Then we decided to clean it up really well and put it in a small dish to see if it was was us, or if it was leaking. Sure enough, the oil was leaking from all around the bottom seam. The box arrived in good condition with no signs of shipping damage, so we are pretty sure this is a manufacturing defect. We have requested a refund and are awaiting approval from the vendor. This review is strictly of the product itself; we hope the vendor will come through with a refund. Very disappointed that we got a defective unit because we really love this product (when it does not leak!).UPDATE: The seller has denied our request for a return/refund because we are literally ONE DAY outside of the 30 day refund period. ONE DAY!!! It was defective merchandise and the seller obviously is not willing to cultivate any customer goodwill or to do the right thing and replace the faulty item. Very disappointed!
