Heres the recipe for tuna cakes:
one can tuna, one egg, some finely chopped carrots and onions. Drain Tuna first, chop carrots/onions and crack egg all in a medium bowl. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, place in slider press. This part gets a little messy, as juice from the egg and tuna will come out, you might want to do it over a sink...and press. Then carefully remove the press, remove the cakes from the tray over skillet. This part is a delicate process, if you don't take your time the cakes could fall apart on you.And cook until desired. The carrots and onion help retain a bit of moisture in the cake, The first iteration I made only had egg and tuna and they were awful dry. Enjoy with some salsa, or a small amount of sour cream...Enjoy (Oh and one can tuna, makes about 4 patties, depending on how much tuna mixture you put in the press.)
I have found that if the meat is chilled that there is less of a mess and less sticking.
When cooked, the patties fit wonderfully onto King's Hawaiian sweet rolls. And I get about 9 patties from a pound of meat, altho I do make them pretty thick. You could probably get a dozen if the press were only filled about half to three quarters full.
I love making sliders with this press.
Highly recommend to anyone.
For my use I created an assembly line of sorts. I get my meat (use 80/20), weigh out 1 7/8 - 2 1/8 portions and stack them up. I then take them and press them into patties with this press. I can do 50 in less than 10 minutes start to finish (beginning with seasoned meat to having 50 ready to cook). This press has been a big help and makes great burgers.
The item is well made and easy to use.
Place the lifter into the press.
Place 1/4 cup ground meat (of any type)into the press.
Push down with the plunger.
Remove the patties with the lifter
The apparatus is sturdy, the handle on the press is very solid and, best of all, the whole apparatus is dishwasher safe.
You can't beat the price or the sliders it will make!
