I just finished using this projector for a presentation for a class that I teach. I wanted to share my impressions of the projector.
The projector is small - roughly the size of three 14 inch laptops stacked on top of each others (I took a picture to illustrate). It's actually just a little bit lighter than the Dell laptop I show in the picture. It's got a very clean design, with a stainless steel top and front, with the rest of the projector being white plastic.
It has a VGA and HDMI port, a USB port and a powered USB port. And a 3.5mm audio input jack, and a second 3.5mm headphone jack.
The project lens has a variable focus knob, and a parallel adjustment (used if the projector is either mounted below or above the screen to keep the screen square).
What I love about this projector:
It's very bright. It's advertised out to work out to 200". I compared it directly to an old Sony Cineza projector that I have that I believe is rated at 2000 lumens, and this projector is much brighter.
The picture quality is very good. The colors were bright and clear - they seemed right without making any adjustment. I've included a couple of pictures that I projected onto a 120" screen. Brightness was solid - even with the room I was in lighted to a comfortable level. I also took a close look, and it's defintely 1080P. Text is crisp and sharp and you can read small text with no eyestrain.
The projector has built in speakers, and the sound was good for such a small projector. It's not a home stereo system, but more than good enough to make speech comprehensible without sounding tinny or muddy or otherwise distored.
The Projector has outstanding build quality that shows a lot of attention to detail. The controls have nice muted red illumination (again, I've got a picture that covers it), and there is no bleeding of the projector light. It looks like it was designed by someone who knew what they were doing.
My final impression:
I don't think you can come close to this projector for anywhere near this price. It's easily good enough to be an HD home theater projector - although I think it would really shine as a portable presention projector - even when done in a moderately lit room with a large screen.
Broken review: Customer service is up in the air at this point, its been a week since I contacted them and I don't have a new one yet. They also requested the broken one back (which is fine) but they gave no address and haven't made any contact since. Overall, customer service response was in broken English although prompt. Getting me a new projector is obviously going to take weeks. Probably wouldn't recommend buying this product, its a good price but I can see the quality being a long term issue. Save up or splurge on something better.
-Good value for the amount you spend.
-Easy to set up
-Has all the ports you would need and comes with the cables for those ports.
-Comes with a remote.
-Picture quality isn't too bad.
-Main Menu/Settings didn't have a brightness settings some of the movies that I've played on it seemed a little dark. (I believe this has to do with the dynamic contrast ratio which is only 4000:1)
-Doesn't support Dolby Surround.
Again for only $200 bucks it's not a terrible projector.
