Overall, I'm disappointed, as I thoroughly enjoy my older seven space stand, with which I'm more comfortable putting my guitars. I guess this works, but in shies in comparison and lacks the stability of the older design.
Yes, the product needs to be assembled. The first time I tried, everything was crooked. But after careful aligning and tightening all the screws at the same time, it all lined up.
I was hoping to place the stand against the wall. But if you do that, the guitar headstocks will touch the wall. So, I just placed the ProLine stand a little away from the wall. Even then, one guitar's neck cannot be leaned fully.
This is not a top quality product, but it serves me very well and the price is right.
Everybody complains about stability and that it doesn't stands up straight... All you have to do is bolt all screws in position (not tighten yet), put in on the floor, and once it is straight, start to completely bolt all screws and it will be good to go...
I have a 5-string bass and 4 electric guitars (2 with their tremolo bars), and they fit perfectly on a small corner of my home studio.
I would definitely recommend it.
