Editorial Reviews

5 Star Review by Reader's Favorite
Piecer Chase 523 feels that things are too good to be true as he and his classmates are about to receive their Piecer Stars at the final graduation ceremony of the soon to be disbanded Corp. As the big moment arrives in The Promise by MaxxPowr, the sky lights up and terror reigns as the Klix, an enemy thought to be peaceful, comes back to Earth in an attempted take over.
Unsuccessful 20 years earlier, the Klix now have a new advantage they are happy to utilize to conquer the planet. Chase and the few friends who survive the graduation day attack band together to take on the Klix in order to save humanity. By finding some space ships with powerful worm drive engines and hidden supplies belong ingto the Corp, the group does what they have been trained to do - fight for planet Earth. With good luck and pleasant surprises, they enjoy some success, but do they have what it takes to make the Klix give up planet
Earth and the silver they so desperately need?
Maxx Powr has created a realistic future world in The Promise, where genetically engineered young men take on the responsibility of fighting for planet Earth. With interesting weapons and space ships and a variety of aliens to contend with, there is enough science fiction to please any fan. Well done, captivating and with some good surprises. Young adult readers will also be pleased with the camaraderie between the Piecers and their issues as young men thrust into a serious situation, one which they never expected
to encounter.
All in all, The Promise is well written with plenty of action, realistic dialogue and enough surprise twists to engage any reader. Reviewed by Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite
2nd pre-release review in from my new best friend in England: Antony Stacey
"Fantastic debut novel, I loved it from start to finish and cant wait to read the follow on books that I have no doubt are coming. Action, adventure, humor and a little titillation added to the mix make this a great read that is hard to put down. The characters are diverse and easy to get emotionally attached to, whilst the adversaries are beyond any redemption. The author paints pictures in your mind from start to finish. Thank you for a very entertaining ride."
3rd pre-release review: by Jim
Wow! Where to begin. This novel has it all. Some old and new themes, as well as the classic good vs evil.
It has great character development, with an engaging story line, with some unexpected twists and turns, but somehow all the divergent parts come together in very satisfying way.
Sci Fi is my much preferred genre, and for many years I have mostly read short stories or novellas. But this novel was such a page turner ,I read it straight through until early the next morning. It was that good/great!
The best thing about is that it is complete in itself. with a very good chance of future novels.
It was clever, sometimes funny ,and most of all fun, and it just screams to be adapted into a movie(s) or at least a tv series. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

I just read "The Promise: Book 1 of The Piecer Chronicles" by Maxx Powr. What a story! What an imagination!
This book is very well thought out and very well written. I thought it started a little slow, but the book soon proved me wrong and it was extremely tough to put down! Follow Chase 523 and his Piecer brothers on their self appointed mission to save mankind from the Klix!
If you are looking to have your imagination taken on an awesome adventure and journey, then I highly recommend purchasing "The Promise: Book 1 of The Piecer Chronicles" by Maxx Powr! Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
"A dramatic space adventure packed with action. The Promise presents a richly developed new sci-fi world in which fans of this genre will eagerly get lost. The scope and detail of the writing is impressive, as are the human moments between the core characters. Powr has created a compelling canvas as a start to this series, and with a strong foundation of characters and a firmly established reality, the future of the Piecer Chronicles looks bright."
Self-Publishing Review, ★★★★
The book is well written and draws the reader into the story line and the subplots that are sprinkled throughout. From the opening paragraph, the author allows the reader to catch a glimpse of the rich back story and history but doesn't stop there. Sprinkled amongst the rest of the novel, you gain more and more understanding. More and more insight into what makes the characters tick. Then when you just think you got it all figured out there are twists thrown at you that are enjoyable.
A good read. Well worth the cost of an e-book.
All in all, I can't wait to see where Book 2 takes us.

I enjoyed this book. It looks like it is going to be a great scifi series.
It is well written, funny, and hard to put down.
I recently read "The Promise". It was a fascinating ride through a possible future for the human race. The story was gripping and meaty with well-developed characters, and plausible situations. It was a wild ride through a variety of overwhelming challenges faced by a determined group of underdog earthlings and an alien friend they acquire along the way. I can't wait for the next book in the series! It would make a great movie!

From the Author

If you are reading this, welcome.

For an author, hearing from someone who read and liked their book, is like a drug. You can't get enough of it and you always want more.

If you have a favorite writer, do them a big favor and leave a review of their work. Be kind. It doesn't take long and it may be that those few words of encouragement keep that writer going, providing more entertainment for you.

When I wrote The Promise, I wrote it as the movie I would like to see made. The chapters are scenes, living in my head. After awhile, the characters take on a life of their own and the dialogue comes from them. Sometimes I'm surprised by what they say and that is really fun for me. (It's possible I'm crazy.)

Often, I create the scene in a 3d program called Poser. It allows me to explore and play with the scene and see what works and what doesn't. It solidifies the idea and then allows me to describe what I see, hopefully for the better.

I hope you enjoy The Promise and find it to be a fun and entertaining read.
