I really enjoyed her first book but I loved this book even more, not sure if it's because I related to the Alzheimer's more in this book. I lost my mother to ALZ so I know how it effects the mind, it certainly kept me hooked on the book and was able to read it within 2 days. Full of suspense and humor, can't wait for her next book.

This is the second novel I’ve read by Elizabeth Wehman, and I loved it even more than the first. This book literally made me laugh and made me cry. The mystery steadily builds, and I did not figure it out until it was revealed. The characters are well-developed, and their interactions with one another ring true. Wehman seems to have a knack for creating believable, compelling characters. It’s refreshing to meet Christian characters who are not all goody-goody and preachy, and non-Christian characters who are self-sacrificing and practical. The characters in this book are the kinds of people that I know in real life, which makes the Christian message hit home.

And the plot thickens! Loved how "Promise At Daybreak" kept me in suspense all the way through about the sister pact. And will Louise have enough courage to pull it off in the end? I couldn't figure it out, and that is one of the things that creates a good read for me. The characters and sub plots are well rounded and believable. At times I felt I was sitting at Irene's kitchen table enjoying conversation and a cup of tea right alongside the sisters. The ending, well, I don't want to give to much away, but I will say, this author certainly shows . . . one is never to old to change or learn new things.

Out of the books I have read by this author, this book really reeled me in. It's my new favorite! It made me laugh, as in cracking up laughing, in places early on. Then as the plot and secrets went on I was pulled in deeper and deeper, anxiously awaiting what the turn would be. I was truly surprised! It's been a long time since I've been surprised like that by a book. Thank you! I highly recommend this book.

So much better than Reality TV, this story gives the reader a glimpse into real lives. The characters are like people I know, their situations feel like real experiences and their conversations can probably be heard in many homes. I especially enjoyed how the descriptions of a small railroad town in Michigan were woven throughout the story. When you add the mysterious promise, the result is an enjoyable reading experience!
