This book really couldn't have come at a better time in my life and my career. I have worked at my company now for 11 years, I am currently a mid-level manager and have been in my current role for 4 years. As I anticipate the next step and what I need to make myself better, this book provided a lot of clarity and questions that I needed to ask myself. Over the next 26 weeks I am going to practice all 26 chapters with each of my employees. I am anxious to see their results as well as my own. I will report back in 26 weeks with the results!
From the Author
This book is a practical and time-saving guide to help a new generation become promotable while allowing the coach to set expectations in a way that supports the organizational culture and the coach and employee relationship. Specifically,it allows the coach/supervisor and mentee an opportunity to come together each week to discuss a specific trait and allows time for self-assessment and reflection. The purpose of the coaching questions for each trait is for the coach and mentee to learn from each other. Through this collaboration, young talent will be nurtured to step into their future, and in the process, senior leaders can leave their legacy.

The great thing about this book is that each weekly chapter not only prompts the employee to reflect on a particular attribute that impacts his or her suitability for promotion, but it provides a weekly set of questions to help guide the coach/mentor.
The weekly chapters, which begin with an inspirational quotation, are short—two to three pages each plus the corresponding self-reflection questions and the guide for coaches. The true value of this book is as a framework for an ongoing conversation about career development between the two individuals that matter most in the process.
The book is equally benefitial for leaders of different levels because it lays out a game plan for you to coach the new talents and enable them to transform into stronger team members and future managers/leaders. The practical assessment instruments and effective tips to work with people of different generations can be taken out of the book and put to use conveniently. Having been an executive for many years, I wish I had a book like this years ago. It could be a primer particularly for new and experienced managers/leaders at various levels. You will find many a tip on how to coach, mentor, and grow your people!
