It's telling that the most complete history of the first two years of the Trump Administration has been written by a former criminal defense attorney and criminal investigator. Dr. Seth Abramson has laboriously pulled together thousands of pages of documentation to form a coherent narrative impressive in its immediacy, underlined by the use of the present tense throughout its 320 pages plus over a hundred more of meticulous notes. Until Robert Mueller concludes his investigations and presents his findings this is likely to be the most thorough account of what has been done to our country and the world at the hands of Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and their various stooges.
Abramson begins with a description of the Trump family's dealings with Russia over the last thirty years, continues with increasing details through Trump's activities prior to and during his campaign, and then dissects his, his family, and his accomplices' behavior through the first eighteen months or so of his Administration. Reading through each chapter (which are all accompanied by summaries and annotations enhancing the primary narratives) it becomes increasing clear that Trump committed treason and other high crimes and misdemeanors, actions which in other eras would have been sufficient to keep him from the Presidency, or to have brought his Presidency to an end within weeks if not days of his swearing in.
It is difficult to find a chapter or indeed a page or paragraph which is not "troubling" to concerned Americans, but I must say that for me the most disturbing chapter is the Afterword: "The Death And Rebirth Of America." Here Abramson makes predictions of how Trump and his accomplices are likely to react in the coming weeks and months as Mueller concludes his investigation, the Democrats take control of the House and begin their own inquiries, and the behavior of the Oval Office's chief occupant and his helpers becomes increasingly erratic. I was especially struck by this sentence on page 318: "How one stood on the question of Donald J. Trump at this moment in American history will be the defining feature of many Americans' self-identity as citizens for years to come." I know where I stand.

The day I stumbled upon Seth Abramson on Twitter I stayed up until 3am devouring his famously long, carefully synthesized, well researched, and accessible to lay people like myself, Twitter threads. Needless to say I was hooked. Seth’s ability to connect and distill thousands of journalistic sources into a cohesive narrative is impressive. While not all the sources that Seth uses are created equal, the point is that he puts forth a theory — a single all encompassing conclusion that has stood the test of time — and then he meticulously strings together journalistic sources to corroborate his theory. Proof of Collusion is Seth at his best. If you truly care about learning the truth about Trump, read this book. Just be ready to accept that the whole Trump Russia things is exponentially bigger than Trump and Russia. This book will cement your understanding that there is indeed Proof of Trump’s Collusion. It will walk you through the intricate web of numerous misdeeds and all their sinister owners via a dark story that has now become our reality. You will experience a range of emotions as you read Proof of Collusion: wonder, amusement, disbelief, nostalgia, anger, sadness, outrage, and hopelessness. And just when you’re about to settle into a wide pit of utter despair as you finally understand just how deeply damaging Trump and his posse have been and will continue to be to our democracy and our country, you get to the Afterword. It should be no surprise that you’ll find the words and ideas in the Afterword just as credible and logical as the preceding 312 pages of the book — it is here that Seth, in his measured and methodical style, talks you off the ledge and gives you a reason to believe that you can make it another day... at least, perhaps, until his next Trump book plunges you back into a hurricane of despair and disbelief... So yup. Two thumbs up. Five stars. Five forks. Etc. Read it. Stick with it — I admit it took me a few chapters to really get into it and after that I couldn’t put it down. Follow Seth on Twitter. Get informed. Participate in any way you can. Even if it’s only by keeping yourself in the know. This country needs you and you need this country.
