This was a compelling read with an interesting plot and some equally interesting characters. I did not read the first book as this was the book recommended to me and I was unsure if I would like it enough to buy the first. I did very much like this but a strange thing happened along the way. The desire to read on is not there as this book has so many things going on at once that they become a distraction to the flow. I also had no desire to go back and read the first book as so much is explained in this that there is nothing I need to know and therein lies the crux of my problem. This is a good book and it is well written but it feels strongly to me that it will be a drawn out series just by the amount of threads in the book that give it a repetitive feel already. I hope to be proved wrong because this author can write. I will wait and see what comes next. .

Reading The Prophecies is just like riding a sleek roller coaster. It's fast. It has some wild twists and turns. And you grip on to the person next do you and don't let go until the ride is over, and when it is over, you think it went by way too fast because you loved the ride so much.

The Prophecies is the second book in YA Fantasy series, The Sentinel, by Holly Martin. And in this sequel, Ms. Marin RAMPS up everything another notch! Eve is not only faced with saving the world, but managing her growing powers, including having prophecies. Terrifying prophecies, ones that scare Eve not only for herself, but for those she loves. When Eve's use of her power results in a tragedy, she's called before the council of the Oraculum. Here we learn there is a split between them-would some of them really turn on Eve? How can she save the world when she might have to protect herself from not only her enemies, but those who are supposed to protect her?

Filled with vivid action sequences (Ms. Martin's gift for action scenes really shine bright in this book), suspense, and some twists I DID NOT SEE COMING, I absolutely loved this book. Characters from The Sentinel are back, including Eve's love, Seth. The dialogue between Eve and Seth is truly loving and touching and their relationship is nicely woven into the plot.

So I happily give this book 5 Stars and can't wait for the next installment in the series.

Eve is back, people. And she is back with a BANG!!!

Ever since reading the first book in The Sentinel series, I realised that I had learnt something brand new about myself. I actually have a little part inside me, hidden beneath the hearts and the romance and the lovey-dovey stuff, that gets a secret kick out of hard-hitting, action-packed fantasy novels, and The Sentinel (the first in the series) and The Prophecies (the awesome book that I've reviewing today) give me that kick a million times over. Both stories are powerfully epic, with a super-human heroine that immediately wins you over, and I cannot wait to tell you all about The Prophecies and why today, Becca's Books is rating it with five cupcakes, although that feels a bit weird, so let's just say Becca's Books is rating it with FIVE EARTH-SHATTERING LIGHTNING BOLTS instead. Yeah, that sounds much more appropriate, doesn't it?

I was left wanting so, so, sooo much more when I finished the final page of The Sentinel, and so when Holly kindly sent The Prophecies my way, I was absolutely ecstatic. I could not wait to return to Eve's side and pick up from where I left off.

Let's face it, The Sentinel was something else. Wasn't it? Suddenly, from out of nowhere, I emerge from my romance book cave and I'm thrown into this crazy world where people can shape-shift into animals and send messages to each other through the power of the mind. I was AMAZED. But The Sentinel has nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, on The Prophecies. The entire way through, it was like BAM BAM BAM in my face. Action, panic, explosive drama, it just never seemed to stop. I can tell you right now, hand on my heart, that I never got bored, not once.

I wonder if the dictionary has the right words to describe the works of Holly Martin.

Following The Sentinel I was left in awe, The Guestbook left me astounded and not long after I was left amazed by One Hundred Proposals, now I find myself longing for more after reading The Prophecies.

There really is no doubt in my mind that Holly Martin is a phenomenal writer!

The Prophecies reunites us with Eve, her guardians and the rest of the gang. I never realised just how much I had missed them all until I found myself back at the fort, watching Seth take Eve in his arms and declare his love

The Prophecies is without a doubt a fabulous fantasy read but it's also more than that, it is a love story. A love that's so strong, we find Eve can pull her soulmate to her without even realising it, which proves that the heart wants what the heart wants.

I love the relationship that Eve has with Seth, it is heartwarming and swoon worthy, but it is the friendship and connection which she has with Lucas that intrigues me, their deep rooted connection is incredibly strong and I can't help questioning, why?

I love Lucas, it seems with every instalment my feelings for him grow. But I still have a soft spot for Eli and Quinn. There is no denying that Eve is blessed with wonderful guardians and friends. Something that she really needs now that she is ever present on the Oraculeams radar. This turn of events certainly makes for some fast paced pages.

But I'm sorry Guardians, my absolute favourite character has to be Thor, I'm not telling you anymore about Thor, you have to READ IT AND SEE!

Thor is just another reason why I find myself gushing over the creative genius that is Holly Martin.
