Mrs. Aaron gives us a masterpiece that managed to keep me hooked from the first page, I loved it, I loved it, this story will become one of my favorites of all time.
As we saw in the book one of the series, Delilah joined the Heavenly Ministries, which is a religious cult, which actually hides a depraved, sinister, ruthless prophet, and left me wanting to get into the book and strangle him. I think there are few characters that I have come to hate so much, because he is a totally hateful character even with his family. Meanwhile, Adam is the protector assigned to Delilah and has to subject her and train her sexually.
Delilah wants to investigate the death of her sister, but everything gets complicated and both she and Adam, her protector, realize that what they feel for each other is not just an attraction. I love all their scenes together, they are so sexy, so erotic, that I blushed several times. And as time goes by, the relationship evolves and the characters realize what their true feelings are.
Adam, oh God, if I loved him on The Maiden, in this installment he left me completely and totally in love with him, he is so sweet, so sexy, so perfect, and my heart broke for him again and again. Also, I was more intrigued by Noah and I really wanted his story.
But, there were turns that I honestly did not see coming, it left me totally in shock and all my hypotheses were brought to the ground, and that ending was totally heart attack.
With a plot well developed in double point of view and complex characters, the author gives us a masterpiece, full of torture, violence, erotic situations, sexy, drugs, dark that sometimes led to chills.
If you like dark, erotic and sexy stories, super recommended for you.
That is what I kept thinking while reading book 2 of this titillating yet harrowing tale.
I'm not sure I've consciously felt such a complex mix of emotions like I have here. On one hand I am in suspense and a state of anxiety wondering what shocking event will come next. On the other hand - the growing affection and bond between Adam and Delilah is completely arousing. I feel despair one moment because of some cruel, unjust punishment or act. And a chapter later one of these characters shocks the hell out of me by doing something protective and self sacrificing and I can't help fall a little more in lust with them. Several times I simply closed my kindle and spaced out. Incapable of interaction while I just wrapped my head and heart around what I had just read. Plenty of unexpected twists that completely blew me away. Things I never would have anticipated. I have to give props to this amazing author for her extreme creativity and amazing writing.
Celia you are absolutely killing me - but I am loving every emotional, gut wrenching, f'd up moment of it. Not sure what this says about me as a person. My soul may be turning black in disgust at my pure enjoyment of this series. I'll repent later. This IS undoubtedly the best series I've read and we're only 2 books in. I am on the edge of my seat - so excited for book 3.
The Prophet shows an even more depraved side to this "Heavenly" cult. The torture steals your breath. The secrets that were brought to light make your heart lurch. Everything about this book just leaves you in a stunned state. Can love survive the sick, depraved, cult? I honestly have no clue.
The writing had me flipping pages fast. The characters brought me to my knees. This is one trilogy I need to see the end of. I need to see my Adam and Delilah have a broken ever after. The Prophet is one book that will have you questioning everything, including yourself!
Adam is stuck in the life that he never wanted. Delilah just wanted answers but she never expected what she will uncover while she is playing her part. She never dreamed she could want a man as much as she does Adam and he, her. They are beginning to think there is not anything they can ever do to escape the horror they are both uncovering. They have found their bliss in each other but are wondering if they can make a life together.
