I found the protaganist a very well thought out interesting character. The author did a great job with describing the scenery and I found the conversations very realistic and true to the time period. The story had quite a few historical figures in it and the descriptions of battle and riding the range really made me feel as if I was there. I also liked the character Paul who befriends Reuben in his later years.
This is Mingo Kane's best book by far.
Note: I did recieve an advanced copy from the author.
