Artificial Tears by Charmaine Pauls- Lourdes March visit to the optometrists didn't exactly go the way planned. DR. Henk Bouwer looked exactly like her ex-boyfriend Dirk. Much less when he touched her she got a tingling throughout her body. When the DR. shows up at her event company she can't help but ask if he is related to Dirk in any way. Finding out he is Dirk's twin, throws her since Dirk had never mentioned having a twin. When Henk wants her help to talk to Dirk she wants to refuse. They hadn't parted on the best of terms.
Loved the story. Lots of background is given and the story flows nicely for being short. It isn't rushed.
The Spark by Ellyse Roberts- Anna Clare an architect is trapped in a burning building while she and two associates are inspecting it. She is rescued by a fireman that seems so familiar. After being released from the hospital she goes to the firehouse to see if it was who she thought it was. her first love Ethan, that just disappeared out of her life one night years before. With a fiancé that doesn't have time for her and a father who never wanted her with Ethan to begin with. Anna Clare wonders what would have been if Ethan had never left. When the truth comes out about why Ethan left, Anna Clare decides she needs to live her own life.
Great second chance romance. Ethan was so sweet. My only problem with the story is what happened to the fiancé. It is like by the end of the story he is just forgotton about.
Proposal Unexpected by Elena Kane- Adele sick at home on the night of her husbands Christmas party for work. Her husband could have stayed home to take care of her instead of saying the hotel room would be wasted if he didn't go. When she receives a phone call from her husbands mistress that he is cheating on. Adele realizes her marriage is over and had been for some time. Picking up the pieces after her divorce she finds herself spending a lot of time alone. Until the day in the deli when she runs into Jack. When they went off in different direction to college it had been to much to keep up a long distance relationship. After dinner with Jack she is torn between trying to build a relationship with him or just going back to being alone and not get hurt again.
Wonderful second chance romance. After sixteen years apart and lots of baggage between them, Jack and Adele try and take things slowly. Both have been burnt but the old feelings for each other were still there.
One Perfect Moment by Tara Fox Hall- Coriander returned home for her high school reunion. Not that she had really wanted to see any of them. She wanted to see if Dustin (Ice)showed up. They dated all through high school. After prom night and a night that was a first for both of them. Things seemed awkward and they ended up going their separate ways. When the sparks are still there Cori decides to run and Dustin comes after her. Dustin had never stopped loving Cori but now she is engaged but as his mother says not married yet.
Fantastic second chance romance. Dustin was determined to win back Cori. She still loved him but she had her fiancé to think about. When a secret her fiancé has been keeping comes to light she thinks maybe she will get her second chance with her first love.
Running Late by Caroline Andrus- Paige has been dating Will for seven years. Lately things have been kind of strange and awkward between them. She just knows he is going to break up with her. You would think after seven years they would be married. So many of their friends have meet people and married in less time then that. Running late to meet Will Paige thinks back over the past years with him.
Great story, it bounces back to the past and present and works it way forward through their relationship. It fills in all the blanks along they way to give you a complete picture of what they have gone through over the years.
Cappuccino Dreaming by Louise Redmann- After catching her boyfriend kissing another women Trying to be everything Calum wanted and he still chested on her. Meeting a man in the coffee shop it gives her someone to talk to and escape her pain. As they keep meeting she finds herself attracted to him. With him she can be herself. But would someone life him want her for herself. Calum always criticized her weight and pretty much everything about her. Here was a good looking man that seemed to like her for herself but how could she be sure.
Cute story, was kind of confusing to follow at times.
Love Weavers by Katie Stephens- Hannah makes jewelry. She is also a witch. When she and her friend Alvin are chosen right out of Art Institute to work with a famous curator. They both are excited. When Hannah needs to travel back in time to meet her ancestor Wynter to learn her secrets to making the jewelry, Wynter is to caught up in her own problems to take time to help Hannah. The men in both of their lives have secrets that they don't know about. It is up to the men to set things straight.
Wonderful story. Bounces back and forth between the present and the past.

Artificial Tears by Charmaine Pauls
I like my romances to have relationship build up, and this story just didn't do that for me. While I could easily see and understand her attraction, his motives are really unknowable because the story is told in first person from her perspective. Mostly, I think this story would work better for me if it were developed into a full length novel to provide time for a slower burning relationship build up. It wasn't bad, but it didn't work for me. 3 stars.
The Spark by Ellyse Roberts
This story was chock full of detailed descriptions, bringing the story to life in a big way. I also loved the chapter headings, they were really a nice touch. I thought the story wrapped up rather quickly at the end, but that's understandable because there were almost certainly length restraints for the submissions to this anthology. There were also times where the verb tenses were off that made some segments kind of stutter for me. Most people probably wouldn't notice those though. 4 stars.
Proposal Unexpected by Elena Kane
This story is my fantasy (shh, don't tell my husband), well sort of at least. My guy is one that I never actually dated though, but otherwise this story is the one that I have saved in my head, almost to the letter, for the times when I'm really angry at my husband. Because of this, I felt really connected to the story and I loved the way it played out. It really felt like the author took it straight from my head. 5 stars.
One Perfect Moment by Tara Fox Hall
Like the past two stories, this is a second chance romance, but it didn't sit as well with me morally as the last two did. There was just something about the characters actions that rankled me. There were also a few conversations that felt flat and awkward, in my opinion. The story wasn't poorly written, but it didn't work for me. 3.5 stars.
Running Late by Caroline Andrus
I loved the way this story was set up, giving us what seems like the highlights from a long relationship, interspersed with present day events that transpire in a very short amount of time. It really made the story feel more intense for me. Even though this is a short story, it was very easy to see the relationship blossom and grow. Although the conflict felt a little manufactured to me, I think that was largely because of the title of this anthology. 5 stars.
Cappuccino Dreaming by Louise Redmann
I liked how almost this entire story took place in a coffee shop (even though, like the leading lady, I don't like coffee). It was an interesting way to tell a love story, only through their interactions in that one location. I took some issue with the man's attitude near the end because I feel what he was doing was just as bad as part of what her ex had done in the past, just in the reverse, but beyond that it was a fun story. 4 stars.
Love Weavers by Katie Stephens
This was my favorite story in this collection. It weaves together past and present to create a dual love story, one in the past and one in the present, but it's really more about the two women in the different times than anything, and their connections to each other. But honestly, I think this was mostly my favorite story because of the historical aspect to it. I've always loved reading historical romances. 5 stars.
Overall this collection gets 4.2 stars. I would definitely recommend it to contemporary romance fans.
