For reference - I'm a male, 6'1" 245'ish lbs with a mostly muscular build. I'm 44 years old and have been in and out of bodybuilding since the age of 18.
Massages are great, but this foam roller might be the best $19 I have ever spent. First - I bought the foam roller thinking I would use it similar to a rolling pin and my two hands - you know, like rolling out dough (in this case, my muscles). While this works to some degree, NO!! You must YouTube-search "foam roller" and look for a 13+ minute clip by Ms. Ashley Borden. She demonstrates how to properly use a foam roller for all parts of the body. If you are using a roller for the first time, be ready for some discomfort (on areas that are REALLY tight) while rolling out specific areas. For me - my shins, glutes, and calves. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I am NOT affiliated with Ms. Borden)
She makes a great point that I've never heard before (but have since heard in multiple videos) about glutes. If you sit all day or don't use your legs a lot during the day, your glutes, in effect, get "turned off". So, if you are a female (or male) and you are having trouble developing your glutes, you must roll them to re-activate them. This "turns them back on" and when you go to the gym to work on them, they will be more receptive of your exercising them.
After my first use, I felt more fluid (easy to move) in motion, all over my body, just walking from point A to point B. I'm convinced that foam rollers are a must have if you are in to any form of fitness or bodybuilding.
I bought the 36" foam roller. It's large enough for working the entire body, it's a lot more firm than you might imagine, and the 36" (think yard-stick) makes it a tiny bit of a challenge to store. I keep mine standing upright in one of my closets or sometimes under the bed.
I'm very active here on Amazon, so if you have any specific questions, ask away and I will be sure to answer you.
Be aware that, if you're a novice with foam rollers, this extra firm product might at first be a little painful on the areas you are using it. Be assured, however, that, with more frequent use, you'll find come to appreciate the job this ProSource product does in creating pressure to release trigger points and loosen knots in muscles in areas such as the back, glutes, hamstrings, lats and calves.
Well worth the cost and highly recommended!
I have noticed a huge difference in the state of legs after using this foam roller. My muscles recover faster and have much less knots, and I definitely feel as though this foam roller has prevented many injuries.
This particular model is very durable. It is a hard, dense foam roller. No frills- it does its job well.
I use it on my shins, calves, hamstrings, quads, glutes, and IT band. If you lead an active lifestyle and frequently feel tight or 'creeky', I highly recommend buying this foam roller.

What's in the box: It comes in a long box, and there is just the foam roller in a plastic bag
Build and Design: 5 out of 5
It is firm, yet not hard on your back. It rolls easily on a hardwood floor, which to me is a good thing.
Use: 4 out of 5
Works as intended. Just as the name of the product says, it is extra firm, rolls easily on a hard floor. Most important it feels great after foam rolling after a workout. it works great to stretch your hams, quads, gluts and upper back. In fact you can use to sort of stretch your neck as well, but it is not very good for stretching your calves and shins, for which a hand held roller works really well.
Price: 5 out of 5
At $32 (at the time of the review) it is slightly cheaper than similar versions, so it is on par or slightly cheaper than completion. It offers very good value for the money as I don't see myself buying another one for the rest of my life.
1. Well built, good material, firm and rolls easily
2. Great for upper leg and back stretching
1. Not very good for lower leg stretching
Conclusions: You will need one of the hand held roller on top of this to get a complete stretch of your body. In terms of upper leg and back, this is an excellent product. Highly recommended. I would suggest this over the much more expensive gimmicky rollers available.
That being said: that’s a me issue; not a product issue. My only problem with the product is, it’s very hard styrofoam and as such, gives no comfort.
I’m even okay with that, but the styrofoam itself is hella slippery and it rolls out of the way a fair bit, and I have to compensate by setting up differently for my exercises before getting it into the right spot. Not a huge deal, just some information for others based on my experience with the product.
However, I find there is too much give in the foam. (Not firm enough).
The AmazonBasics foam roller is much firmer. I don't understand why Amazon doesn't sell it in India.
The smooth texture on this product creates a better massage experience and I am able to get deep into my muscles.
The roller had no rips or anything and it IS REALLY dense!
