☞ Compared to known sources, the meter's amperage readings were radically off, about 35%. For example, a known current 60hz source of, say, 6.2a read at 4.0a, confirmed by other meters (Klein and BSide. I can't attest the rest of the instrument was as wildly inaccurate, but the A~ readings defeated my reason for buying the gadget.
☞ Also, the instructions are virtually worthless, possibly the poorest I've encountered. The company provides no on-line PDFs manuals, another big minus in my book.
Suggestion: Look elsewhere for a better instrument. Amazon sent me an RMA and I ordered a Klein from them. It was more money, but I could trust it to give me accurate figures.
I got this to do some home HVAC work, checking amp draw.
I had to return first meter as I could not get clamp meter to read any amps DC or AC , single leg feed on either 120v feed to A/C contactor, tried on car cables positive or negative when starting car to get something out of it..... I tried everything .... Return was painless and replacement sent instantly before I even sent the defective one back.
Okay, tried all again with replacement unit and it works! A/C drawing 10.2 amps each 120v leg... Awesome! DC works on car! Awesome!
Only thing that is not awesome it will not read low amp draw with clamp, tried to check 24VAC system on Air Handler from 24VAC transformer red or black wire to anything on the circuit, control board, thermostat even yellow compressor circuit that fires contactor on outside unit. Nope..... And yes, I know how to set meter :)
So my conclusion con-tactless amp readings at lower levels will not work with this unit I got, maybe getting lemons? Gonna try an inexpensive Centech unit also. Gonna get a cheap multi meter that does DC and AC amps 10 amps or less old fashion way.
If you do low level amp draw readings , look elsewhere..... But for the price at least you can get some sort of idea on higher amp draw devices instead of wondering. 1 amp or more?
Gonna keep the replacement and try all the other features like temp and so on.....
Keep in mind, single wire readings in clamp, more then 1 wire will give you fits..... AC or DC :)
Have the money? Get a name brand one if you use it everyday or an enthusiast which requires dead accuracy...
Me being on a fixed income, disabled and broke I cannot afford a high dollar meter.....
After that, it is all downhill. The display and LED mini light is useful in a dark basement but it only stays lit for only 15 seconds - presumably to save battery life. The NCV detection is extremely unreliable so it is better to use a dedicated tool for NCV or you might risk electrocution. The temperature probe worked but was off by 5-8 degrees; it is probably a useful feature for someone testing an A/C unit. The real problem is that voltage and resistance functionality was highly variable. It took much too long to zero out and the readings were inaccurate. I have a much cheaper meter from Amprobe that lacks many of features found on this Proster but at least it is able to measure voltage and resistance with precision and consistency. I can't understand why this device is functioning so poorly. Simple AC outlet or DC battery voltage readings were way off. My recommendation is to to pay more and get reliable readings if you plan to work on electrical devices. With the exception of the clamp current readings, the meter was not functional and highly inaccurate. I bought an Amprobe clamp meter for $140 and I will post a review once I test it out.

I also like the temperature probe, although it is not the main reason I bought this meter, I tested with ice and it is spot on 0Celsius.
The other feature I like is the nearfield AC detection when working on the house wiring.
The meter also came with a pouch to keep all the cable tidy, excellent.
I am an electrical engineer and I am very happy with this meter performance, good price too, others meters do not have DC current measurement? at more expensive price? Go figure.
Another thing I like is the meter uses AAA batteries, I don't want to use the 9V which does not have the same Amh as AAA.
I recommend this meter and give it a well deserve 5*.
1.The meter appears well constructed
2.The fabric carrying case is a nice addition.
3. The small size makes it easy to carry, doesn't take up a lot of space on the workbench
4. The digital screen is a good size and easy to read with a welcome back light
5 The AC as well as DC current reading was important to me. A lot of the higher end brand name meters do not include the DC amp function which is critical for my hobby..18650 lithium battery projects.
6. All functions operated as stated in the small but satisfactory manual.
7: Takes AAA batteries which are easy to replace and inexpensive.
8: The battery compartment was well designed and fit the batteries firmly.
1:The plug in voltage and ohm probes are quite stiff (PVC) so I swapped in my silicone leads which were much easier to handle.
2: The slip on probe alligator clips were not of good quality (loose fitting on the probe needle ) so I substituted my own alligators.
CONCLUSION: All in all a very nice unit that I would purchase again.
