I was skeptical at first that this caliper would be good for my use due to the heavier weight. I've been using unlit plastic calipers for measuring lumps and bumps on pets, so very lightweight but hard to read under varying lighting.
The weight was easy to get used to after a few days. Backlight makes it easy to show in photos and easy to read. I've neded to photo-document a medical procedure on my dog's leg for over a month, and this caliper was just what I needed. For the first 2 weeks, photos were several times daily to document rapid changes.
Great that it has the zero function, though it tends to go back to zero almost every time. I don't really need tenths and hundredths measurements, but good to have in case I decide to become an engineer ;)
Notes: Need to be careful not to touch/poke any body part with the caliper tips - they are sharp. Also good that the kit came with an extra battery - one installed was dead because the locking screw looked tight but had enough wiggle that the battery must have been engaged during shipping.
