I believe she has topped them all with this one. The author and book cover sold me. Paige Brooks is a very beautiful, successful public relations specialist who had a one week fling a year ago on an island in the Caribbean with the hot, sexy movie producer Cole Barrington. Paige thought they would continue their hot, steamy romance when they returned to Los Angeles, but when she discovered Cole with another woman, it broke Paige's heart to realise their relationship was not exclusive. Though Cole tried to contact her, Paige refused to take his calls. She would never allow him to hurt her again. A Year later, due to unavoidable circumstances, Paige is forced to travel with Cole to the same island in the Caribbean to work again. Again, sparks fly. At first the sparks are angry sparks, but they quickly turn to sparks of passion. Sparks fly quite frequently throughout this story as Cole remembers how strong willed and impetuous Paige can be. She often makes hasty decisions without first giving thought to her safety and well-being. Cole has a cure for this kind of behavior, or at least a temporary deterrent. Paige and Cole board a seaplane and head out to the island but on the way, they encounter a strange cloud as they approach the Bermuda Triangle. The plane's instruments begin to malfunction and the pilot is forced to crash land on a remote deserted island. Cole will do anything and everything to keep Paige safe, whether it is from venomous reptiles that inhabit the island, dangerous criminals in search of hidden pirate's treasure, or from her own self-destructive behavior. I'd say this is a page turning romance full of suspense, dominance and an attempt at submission. Does she really want to be perfect all the time? I would not. I hope you enjoy Protecting Paige half as much as I did; if so, you'll be well entertained.

I really enjoyed the story but I thought Cole's response to what happened with Jasmine made him a real creep and he never did seem to redeem himself. The fact he never once indicated towards the end of their adventure that he planned to remain faithful to Paige tells me he's going to be a slimy cheating dog. I wish Paige had stood up more for herself and not just accepted the fact he'd be a cheater. I had a hard time believing his love for her because he was such a cad with all the women he bedded and the fact he never made any mention he wasn't going back to that life. Other than that it was a good story! Just wish Cole had changed from being a cad to being a real awesome guy. I think it was hinted but he never said it so I have a hard time believing it. I also don't understand the BDSM concept of denying the woman you love her pleasure. I will never understand that.

I enjoyed this book by Ms. Carpenter. Except for one area when describing the scene which I thought was something the author saw clearly in her mind but I had a little trouble doing so, the story flowed well. The book was well written and certainly believable. The sexual tension between the two main characters was always just under radar if not right out in front. I particularly liked the idea portrayed that their relationship was a mutual thing. There was no coercion on either part and both knew exactly what they wanted out of the relationship with no games being played. That part especially to me was very important. Good job, Ms. Carpenter and I believe other readers will enjoy your writing as well.

Who doesn’t want to go hunting for treasure on an island with the hunkiest guy ever? Cole Barrington has his hands full with Paige, and some of the dialogue made me laugh out loud. She’s smart, savvy and has a mind of her own. She even makes Cole laugh when he’s in the middle of spanking her. The chemistry between them sparks off the pages. Loved it. There are surprises and bad guys, and when I finished (in one sitting) I wanted to book a flight down to the Bahamas. This is romantic and sexy and a great book!

When they did, they encountered some interesting not so nice people. As their adventure continues, they fall back in love, search for a lost treasure and their friend. A definite HEA.

I found myself laughing out loud at some of their banter, and Cole’s sweet side melted me. (Along with his other talents…!) This book is pure entertainment. If you ever saw the Indiana Jones movies, throw in some Fifty Shades, and you’re there. If that sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll love this.
