I put 4 sets of metal dice in here. The dice are painted with enamel that will eventually flake off if I carry the dice in a bag and let them bang against each together.
The only thing I don't like is that the holes are obviously not sized for dice. The d6's, 12's, and 20's really don't take advantage of them all that well.
BUT because the lid is foam it compresses everything down so it doesn't really matter.
Also the metal dice are very heavy so they kind of dig into the holes and get seated fairly well.
Like others have said, you can just take the foam insert out and throw all your dice into the container, or even put them in a bag. So in that regard it would work well for standard dice.
