Protect your Investment
Daily use of your mobile device can cause unsightly scratches, dents, and other unwanted damage. Within a few months, the screen will be difficult to read; the device will decrease in resale value and be embarrassing to show other people. Lower-quality disposable screen protectors seem like a temporary solution for keeping your device looking brand new; though they need constant replacements. The Only Screen Protector You'll Need
With this problem in mind the founders of Skinomi® set out to create a screen protector that's tough, reliable, and long-lasting. Their solution was the Skinomi® TechSkin.
Made of a thermoplastic urethane film that is designed to resist abrasion, the TechSkin Google Nexus 7 Screen Protector provides impact absorbing military-grade protection for your device. The screen protector is UV resistant, HD Clear, and goes on invisible. A smooth texture and feel makes it easy to navigate your device as if there was nothing applied. The flexible high-grade film is formulated to be "self-healing" which makes it able to stretch, absorb, and even repair scratches and impact damage.Lifetime Guarantee
We're so confident that you'll love the TechSkin that every Screen Protector comes with a 100% Risk-Free Lifetime Replacement Warranty. If the Skinomi® TechSkin wears off, we will replace it. No Questions Asked!
The installation process is easy, error-proof, and bubble-free. Protect your possessions and never worry about having to replace that old screen protector again.

Having never installed a screen protector on any of my devices, I decided to spend a little extra and buy different ones from a couple of the top rated manufacturers on Amazon. Skinomi and TechArmor. Since I had no idea what I would like, I tried two different TechArmor protectors for my tablet (one HD clear and one with the matte anti-fingerprint, anti-glare), and bought a Skinomi TechSkin for my phone.
Phone installation was first and was pretty straight forward. I was glad to have read some reviews, and knew in advance that immediately after installation the screen doesn't look that good. Since it's a wet application, it really does take a full 12 hours before it's all clear and smoothed out. But, the screen has a nice feel to it and the clarity and sharpness is excellent.
Next was the installation of TechArmor (matte finish) protector on my Nexus 7 tablet. This protector is by far the best choice for being fingerprint resistant, but the clarity of text and images was diminished enough that I opted not to use it at all. The installation of the HD clear version of the TechArmor protector followed. Image and text clarity are perfect but it really provides no resistance to fingerprints at all. The feel of it was also a little too grippy for my preference.
During the days of this experiment, I was using my phone with the Skinomi TechSkin, and liking it more everyday. The choice was really simple. Skinomi TechSkins somehow have found a way to provide perfect clarity for text and images while being VERY resistant to fingerprints. You will still wipe off your screen from time to time, but I'd say this protector reduces the problem with fingerprints by 70%. Naturally, I bought the same TechSkin for my Nexus 7 tablet.
The wet application is a little more difficult in general and especially on a larger screen. I totally screwed it up and ruined my Skinomi TechSkin for the tablet. Knowing it was my own fault, I had little doubts that I would have to buy another if I wanted it. Nevertheless, I emailed Skinomi support about what happened. To my surprise (and delight), they only asked for a copy of my order, a picture of the ruined protector and the code that comes with the documentation in the box. With that, they actually sent me a free replacement! If that's not excellent customer service, I don't know what is....
Before attempting the second installation of the same protector on my tablet, I watched the youtube video they tell you about in the instructions and noticed that I wasn't using nearly enough spray. This really solved all my problems. If you have enough spray on the protector, it's fairly easy to get it perfectly into place. Otherwise, it's nearly impossible. That's the only advice I'd give - watch the video and see how much they use and do the same. You'll have no issues.
I now have Skinomi TechSkins on my phone and tablet and couldn't be happier. With the money I spent in this little experiment, take my advice and just by yourself the Skinomi. You'll be glad you did.
I watched the suggested youtube video using the link emailed to me by Skinomi ([...]), twice. I have never installed a screen protector of any kind before, let alone a wet one. It looked fairly complicated, so it tooks some time to get up the nerve to try it.
I watched the video again and began. I decided to use the glass top stove surface of my range as it was easy to make dust free and the lighting was good from the light in the stove hood. I first cleaned the stove top with glass stove top cleaner, rinsed it, dried it, and then cleaned with glass cleaner. I laid out everything I would need and began: following the video carefully. As I squeegied off the protector there were large amounts of the installation fliud that came out from under it and ran onto the edges of the tablet. I quickly mopped this up with a paper towel before it could soak into the cracks and other openings on the sides of the tablet. Once there was no more liquid coming out from under the protector, I took a look at in under the light. It looked TERRIBLE. The protector looked like it was all scraped up from the squeegee, there were tons of bubbles, and the surface of the tablet looked uneven and rippled. I thought OMG this looks terrible and I have ruined the screen protector, but then I thought about what some others had said about how it gets better as it dries. I thought to myself, there is no way this is going to look good, even after it dries, but I might as well wait and see. So I decided I would not mess with the tablet all week and record the results.
Monday evening (24 hours):
The scrape marks are gone, the surface looks more even, but there are dozens of bubbles.
Surface is very smooth, maybe a dozen bubbles left.
Surface smooth as glass, 4 bubbles left
Two bubbles left.
Surface smooth as glass, really does not look like there is a screen protector on the tablet. No marks whatsoever. One small bubble left in the lower corner (not on the viewable area of the screen). At this point, I probably could lift the corner, apply more solution, and get rid of the last bubble, but I am inclined not to mess with it and leave as is. I wouldn't be surpised if this one last bubble left also.
Update: by Saturday morning the last bubble was gone.
Pros: It is very forgiving of a poor application (not getting all the bubbles out) as long as you don't get any dust under the protector. Looks terrific on the tablet. I don't notice any rubbery feel that others have talked about. Actually, application is not that difficult. Great price for what you get. Repels dust and fingerprints.
You must have patience to wait for a full cure before messing with it.
Highly recommend and would buy again.
Two months later: You absolutely cannot tell there is a screen protector on the tablet. NO bubbles. Screen sensitivity is every bit as good as it was without the protector. Wipes clean with a microfiber cloth. Still highly recommend above all other screen protectors.
