I also find them relatively easy to install -- and its great that they include tape, cloth, and a card all right in the kit.
The value of 3 protectors for 1 price is also very solid.
For several years I used the mediadevil (?) brand and I liked the feel of the matte protector but I found that it distorted the screen image. When I switched to these, I was pleased with the improvement of the image. However there is a tradeoff -- fingerprints are perhaps more noticeable than even with the bare iPad screen if you can believe it.
I've never had to use their lifetime warranty thing - so I can't comment on that. But overall, I'm really satisfied with the value of this brand. You probably could get higher quality for a higher price; but it's a bargain for 3 protectors in one box for what you pay -- with prime shipping.
REVIEW: TECH ARMOR HD CLEAR SCREEN PROTECTOR 3-PACK ***** 5 Stars
Let me start this off by saying that I am fairly OCD. I am bothered by imperfections and misaligned things probably more than most. I have applied screen protectors to mobile gaming devices, phones, tablets, GPSs, and just about anything I worried might get scratched. That being said, I have a good amount of experience installing screen protectors and yet it has always been a very frustrating experience regardless.
I decided to order this pack and install each of the included protectors on my iPad mini with Retina, my mothers, and my fathers iPad mini all at once. This is a perfectionist, OCD, nightmare Nonetheless I endured and proceeded with my project.
I ran the hot water in the shower for about 5 minutes and at the end I entered the bathroom with all three devices closed the door and turned off the shower. The hot water had just started to fog the mirrors and I put everything down on the counter that I had wiped down earlier. I prepared the devices and gave the room a few minutes for the dust and particles to settle. I wiped the the screen with a cloth I had and then used the provided cloth to get rid of all of the remaining dust and lint. I followed the directions and installed from the bottom up making sure to line up everything as good as I could. It took a few attempts and it was quite difficult at first to line up the camera hole but eventually I got it and was able to remove any dust from under the protector with the provided dust removal stickers. I rinsed and repeated that process on all three devices and I actually had to lift the whole protector off the device a few times to line it up and remove more dust and lint between applying it to all devices but by the end I had 3 close to if not perfect installs without a single air bubble or trapped dust/lint.
With the cleaning of the screens and applying all 3 protectors, the process took about 30-40 minutes. I'm not gonna lie, although everything went decently well, for a person like me, it still sucks to do it. I felt that although I have done many protectors before, these went on without as much hassles and frustration as it could have. They were dry applications as opposed to the wet applications from other protectors like Invisible shield.
The only real issue that got a bit frustrating was that removing the plastic sheet that covers the screen protector after applying it to the device, creates air bubbles when it lifts the protector up as you remove it. By the end I had found that if you let the bubbles remain as you removed the top layer, the bubbles would follow it all the way up to the top where they were pretty easy to remove. It's hard to explain but once you're installing these you will likely know exactly what I'm talking about.
So far the protectors are crystal clear and do not affect the visual quality of any of the screens or the cameras. They're pretty easy to clean up and I'm sure they will protect the glass from any scratches. Also, when I used the HD version of the Invisible Shield for the iPad mini, I noticed that although it was clear and durable, the surface was a bit rubbery feeling and hindered my finger from sliding smoothly over the screen at times. I do not know if that issues has been corrected with Invisible Shield but I do not notice it here with Tech Armor.
I literally just applied them so I can't say how they will hold up over time but I will update my review if I find that they scratch easily, get discolored, or have any other major flaws. I bought them to protect my new glass on my iPad mini with retina and I know it will do just that. Installation was roughly the same as it has always been but it did seem a little easier going this time around with less frustration. Unless I find that they have issues in the long term, I would highly recommend these screen protectors. Just take your time and do it right, you'll get good results if you do.
UPDATE: The screen protector is fantastic and looks and feels excellent months after the initial install.
REVIEW: BALLISTIC GLASS TEMPERED GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR FOR IPAD MINI/MINI WITH RETINA **** 4 Stars
I need to start this review by saying that I just installed my second Ballistic Glass screen protector on my iPad Mini with Retina. The first went on okay. It was a little harder than I expected to line things up right but a little patience goes a long way in the application of the screen protector. I have to say that it went on fairly easy and I'm fairly sure I followed the instructions as well as anybody could. The problem with the first screen protector was tiny bubbles around the very edge of the protector. They were really only noticeable at certain angles but I don't like that I could see them and a lot of them for that matter. They weren't like the normal air bubbles you get with installation of a screen protector as they seemed to almost only exist in the rounded edges of the protector. The glass was lined up nearly spot on and symmetrical and I took care to clean my screen of all oils and lints. I tried pushing the bubbles away and while they would disappear for a few seconds, the tiny things would come back. It almost seemed like either the glass on my iPad wasn't completely flat or the protector came up a little on the edges. I decided to sit on it and see how they were the next day. I should also note that there were little oily looking areas underneath the protector that were the remains of air bubbles that I pressed out. These oily smudgy areas were gone by the next morning, however not only were the little bubbles around the perimeter still there but they seemed to have spread a little. I tried pushing them back out but over the day they just did not get better. Some people may not have minded the little bubbles. Besides those bubbles there was nothing obstructing the screen and the protector felt great.
I did mind the bubbles and I removed the protector and got in touch with tech armor support. They got back to me promptly and my dealings with them went smooth and easy. Long story short, they truly support their products and were very easy to deal with. Today in the mail I received my new Ballistic Glass screen protector roughly a week after getting in touch with the company. I went through the process of cleaning my screen and applying the new screen protector the way I had and here we are today. The protector went on much easier this time around since I had practice from the first time and while others say you have to get it right on the first try, I have to disagree. If you are careful and can pull up a corner without messing up the adhesive, the entire glass protector can be pulled off and realigned. In fact, you can even go in with their lint stickers to remove lint if you need to however I did not have to. After a quick readjustment, the screen protector went on and looks perfectly aligned on my iPad Mini with Retina. It looks and feels terrific on my iPad but there are maybe 4 areas around the perimeter that have the same air bubbles as before, however there are much less and they are barely noticeable from any angle. I am still just a few minutes from installing and still trying to work them out for a near perfect install. I had maybe 10-15 little bubbles on my first install around the entire perimeter whereas I have maybe 4 on just the top and bottom that are pretty inconspicuous. While I do hope I can get rid of them eventually, they are actually not driving me crazy enough to dislike the screen protector and the protection it provides which says a lot coming from someone as OCD as myself.
The protector seems very high quality and feels great on the device. I do feel it will offer a good amount of protection from scratches and possibly drops. I am not a fan of the cheap rubbery plastic buttons they include but I supposed I am glad something is offered. Personally I am using the SGP Aluminum Home Button for the iPad Mini and iPod Touch and it feels and fits great with this screen protector. A button isn't necessary but I prefer the feel and look over nothing and cheaper options.
I like this protector and if I can get rid of the air bubbles I will gladly give it 5 stars, but for now it absolutely deserves 4 stars and for the price and what is included, I can easily recommend this item to people interested. The issues I had with this protector the first time could have really turned me away from Tech Armor forever, but my dealings with them and their support of their products have saved this relationship. They do make quality products and are completely willing to support them. I will see how this product holds up to the test of time and will update my review if needed. If there are any questions feel free to ask.
Having said that, I give 1 star because it is VERY opaque. So now I have a screen with much less clarity that uniformly glares out the screen in direct light so that its mildly blurry inside and totally glared out outside. Useless & ugly. I wouldn't install this type of protector if it were free. Please consider the clear ones instead.
