Potter House Series
By: Mary Manners
Sometimes...family can be hard...
And that’s the situation Megann and Colton both find themselves in from a young age well into their adulthood.
Megann and Colton’s characters has reminded me that we cannot look at someone from the outside and determine who they really are as a person. Often times we forget that. You never know how someone is feeling deep inside. In this world today, their story is one of importance. One that does remind us not to judge but to look deeper and to care and love each other. To take time to get to know someone and share their battles to help them through. And to always be a shoulder for one to lean on. God has made us all His hands and feet to help anyone in anyway we can.
No one said life was easy, no one said growing up was easy. But as Megann grew up living with her alcoholic Mom after her Dad committed suicide, she felt like the worlds biggest outcast. To her family, to her friends at school and to Colton, the star football player that had it all...fame, girls, money and the perfect family. The family she wanted, the one she never had.
Colton did come from fame, money and the perfect family, and he had lots of girls swarming him. With a football career ahead of him, so he thought, his life changed when his beloved Sister passed away and left her newborn baby for him to care for. Not nearly ready for a child to raise, Colton had to do this for his Sister. She meant the world to him.
Ten years later, when Megann and Colton’s lives meet up again, can their pasts be so haunting that they cannot find their way to a future that God has mapped out for them? A future that takes all the pain they both had endeavored and turns it into hope and faith? And a chance at love?
Join me in reading their story that will affect hearts of all ages.
Injustice and broken hearts can cause irrevocable damage. There can be forgiveness and even healing, but scars remain.
... The one truly innocent person, Meg's dad, suffered the most and paid the highest price.
... Mrs. Kendrick worked through her disgust and pain by hardening her heart.
...Meg and Colt both suffered. Pain knows no class difference. It hurts the rich and the poor, the innocent and the guilty. It will remain until someone finally chooses to doctor it and let it heal. However, often choosing to heal will be costly. It will require deeply hidden denial to surface, fester and burst wide open. Meg chose to run, hide and not face it. Tragedy forced Colt to take a good, hard look in the mirror.
🤔 WISHES and WONDERINGS (beware of spoilers here)
Would like to know more about Mr Kendrick. He was far from innocent. His role brought about immediate consequences as well as future repercussions.
Kept wondering why Mrs K sought revenge on the innocent party, rather than the guilty. Also, what brought about her turnaround? What happened?
Colton Kendrick grew up on the right side of the tracks, son of the wealthiest family in town and always part of the in-crowd in high school. Having experienced a near-fatal car accident that left his best friend crippled, the death of his sister from leukemia, and the responsibilities of raising his now five-year-old niece. Colton is a very different person from the shallow party buy Megann knew in high school and secretly had a crush on.
Colton’s now the youth minister at Wildwood Community Church, where Megann ends up as an administrative assistant to provide some family income. The two are attracted to each other, but there are issues buried in their pasts, and in their families’ pasts, that threaten to undo any kind of relationship. And only gradually will Colton and Megann find out what those are.
