Writing this Book

I began this project as a journal. I would read each Psalm in a few different translations, then close my Bible (or computer), and pick up my pen, writing the message I got from that Psalm. Initially, I went in order. It didn't take too long before I began skipping some because I just couldn't relate to them. This book took about five years to finish, and some painful lessons that made the difficult ones easier to relate to. I have found that God gives me exactly what I need for whatever task he has set before me. This book was no exception. I write from the perspective of an African-American woman who was a teacher in an urban public school district, but have had people from all races, ages, genders, and regions tell me they were able to relate to what I was saying, at least for several of the Psalms. Try a sample. Hopefully, you will find something in my writing that speaks to you as well.

Wonderful Bible-Based Poetry!
W. Williams
The author doesn't claim to be a Bible scholar. Instead she has read the Bible and applied it to her life; which is how we should study the Bible. She takes us on a journey through her life and the first 50 Psalms! The passages are not exerpts from the Bible but a poetic take on how the Book of Psalms was instrumental in the many choices she made during her lifetime and how it helped shape who she is today. Great Job!!! I can't wait for the next 50 Psalms!

This review is from: Psalms in the Key of my Life (Paperback)
I found this book to be very creative. I loved how the author stepped inside of the Psalms with her life and then came out the other side and wrote of her discovery. The title is exactly what this book is. She figured out how to personalize and find strength in the Psalms for her life moments. I liked that. I also feel that there is released to each reader an ability to discover it for their life. It is releasing a potential new way to look at it for yourself. I also liked that she gave a link (in the Kindle version) under the title that took me to the actual chapter in His Word online so that I could then compare and see how she got what she got. I personally love the Psalms and found this refreshing. If you are looking for a book that potentially releases to you a new way to apply His word for your own life, this is it.

Here is a collection of thoughts, prayers and prose that will inspire you and warm your heart. Each proverb is written through the inspiration derived by the Christian Bible's chapters of Psalms one through fifty. In her own words, Ms. Moye shares her thoughts in prosaic reflections of a wisdom that can only come through prayer and a deep love and devotion of God and all that He provides us in life.

What initially sold me on this book was an immediate recognition that this work had to have taken her many years of what could only be a labor of love. And I got that impression by simply taking a 'Look inside' and reading the first few proverbs.

I take great pleasure in reading the scriptures of the Old Testament in both the Jerusalem Bible and the Catholic Douay version of the Bible. My favorite inspirational scripture is from the Chapter Sirach (27th) book of the Catholic Bible. Sirach was a Shepherd living around the time of Moses. He wrote inspirational proverbs covering many topics of his time that, even now, apply to our own period of time. He tells us that True Wisdom can only come to us through prayer, asking God to bestow on us the grace of Wisdom; to which, I believe Ms. Moye has been blessed.

I now am eager to see this book made into a paperback and will be checking back here from time to time.

And oh yes, before I forget ... Dear Ms. Moye, you have another 100 verses to go! ;)

A very personal retelling of the first fifty psalms, this little book provides the reader a glimpse into the emotions and philosophies of an urban public school teacher. My personal favorites included "Putting Life into Perspective"(Psalm 39) and "Just Call My Name, Daughter" (psalm 40. I must admit, however, in my opinion the author's hymn of praise to President Obama and his wife (see Psalm 45, "Barack H. Obama",) was nauseating. Unfortunately,it ruined the book for me.I am thankful for the opportunity to review this book, but I am very glad that I didn't purchase it.

There were several parts of this book really minister to me personally. In the section of Psalm 34(Praise The Lord) , Carol mention no matter what happen in my life that I shall praise Him in advance. We shouldn't only praise Him in the good times but we should also praise Him in the bad times as well. When things look bleak in our life, we can learn from our storm and gain hope in Christ. This is only a test and the Lord gives us this test to see how we are going to handle it. In the Chapter ofThe Beauty Of God Law(Psalm 19) , Carol let us know that God's Law is just and true for our protection. God will protect us from those individuals that have a negative agenda against us. I definitely recommend this book for individuals that need empowerment in their lives right now. I am looking forward to reading the next book "Unfailing Love:Psalms In The Key Of My Life Volume 2."

This was an absolutely beautiful and amazing book of poetry related to Psalms 1-50 in the Bible. The author took each psalm and made it into a poem. I read through the book real quick, although I am going to go back and read it slower next time so I can absorb more of it.

I had many favorites and finally had to stop writing them down. A few are Psalm 5, He’s Working it Out; Psalm 6, Just When I Need You Most; Psalm 11, Faith During The Test and Psalm 13, When I Feel Forgotten. Like I said, there were so many I liked and that I could relate too. Sometimes I felt as if the author was writing the poem just for me.

This is a book of poetry that will bless you and is an absolute delight to read. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. I give this book 5*****

You can sense and feel the emotion behind each poem and song that the author had put into this book. It shows how she had found emotional, spiritual, and mental peace and restoration through the book of psalms. Reading this encourages me to take another take at the book of psalms and have a better understanding of how to apply to my life and my own struggles. For myself to strive to be a man of God this is a strong example of how to apply the book of psalms into my daily life. To use it as a guide for today's problems and tomorrows solutions.

Like the author, I love the Psalms. So when I had the opportunity to obtain a free Story Cartel download of Carol Moye's ebook/volume 1, I jumped at the chance. Moye described her writing as an inspired response to Psalms 1-50 using poetry and song. Her hope in sharing was so she can help others be inspired by the Psalms and her experiences. In my opinion, those readers who can approach this book with fresh eyes, who are curious about ways to cope with life, and are new to the Psalms will find the most value in 'Reflections on the Psalms'.
Moye's ebook must not be a turn off because its foundation is biblical. Instead, you can be turned on by the author's text as her writing style and topic choices allow you to follow and relate to a life situation easily. Each chapter has its own unique title. For example, Moye's titles for Psalms 1 and 2 respectively are 'The Road to Prosperity' and 'Have We Lost Our Way?'. The writing is intentional in its meaning, whether her goal is to provoke your thinking, encourage you to change a behavior, stimulate a thought/concept, hear her gratitude, or understand when, where, and how she applies her faith.
