As a professional bodyworker and movement educator for over 25 years, I've met many people - clients, chiropractors, physical therapists, dancers, practitioners of yoga and other somatic therapists - who recognize the importance of the psoas muscle for optimal postural alignment, back health, and over-all well-being. Very few of them, however, can explain the significant and complex relationships that the psoas has with other muscle groups, with our internal organs, and with our emotional experience. And even fewer know how to adequately release their own psoas tension, to fascilitate optimal psoas tone, or to teach others these essential skills.
Liz Koch has spent over 20 years exploring this muscle and its influence, and she generously shares her extraordinary discoveries with us in her book. There are many drawings that help to clarify the text, which not only covers the basics, like location and function of the psoas, but extends into self-care exercises and application of these ideas to everyday considerations, like what kind of shoes or chairs or sports can support psoas health. There's also an entire section addressing the role of the psoas in women's cycles, pregnancy and menopause.
This book is a revelation! I recommend it to anyone who is searching for the keys to self-awareness and more vibrant health.
Sincerely, Liz Koch
This is a very expensive price for such a slim book with poorly drawn stick figure illustrations.
Laying in bed in the morning, and before sleep. No need for extra gym membership, or outfit.
Liz Koch, I want to thank you for putting this amazing information together. In 2 weeks I have grown almost an inch as the tight psoas muscle released my full height. The several simple exercises requiring no equipment beside our own body are brilliant. Doing them 1x daily and then paying attention to the psoas muscle every now and then is unwinding decades of stress from my body. I noticed that I smile more often, and I breathe with more ease.
This is a book I highly recommend to anyone who has suffered from back pain, poor posture, feeling of shallow breathing,or belly sticking out from a fairly athletic body. I am a professional in body aligment field. A client told me about The Psoas Book about 3 years ago. It was on my wish list about 2. Don't wait as long as I did, reap the benefits now.

Wow! 20 bucks for a book by an author with no documented formal training listed in her bio. I think I'll pass.Published 3 months ago by Edwarda
Liz Koch's work about the psoas is of the highest caliber. Her book is insightful, easy to read and understand and very
helpful to me as I am healing a psoas injury.
Sometimes a little to academic for me and I
dont like the way the exercises are drawn, but
the information about the psoas is very extended
and accurate. Read more
