Beckett is the big strong alpha male in all the best ways who's heart is melted every single time he sees, thinks about or holds Lily, his daughter. This right here was enough to send me over the edge with him, but when he meets Eden at a time when he least wants a relationship and the feelings he had for her that eclipsed anything she's ever had before, well, that just did it for me.... over edge I went.
These two are so perfect for each other. Their love is not a smooth course due to Eden's past relationship and an event that I'm not sure how she recovered from that makes it difficult to break through her walls. Add in Lily's mom who's not fit enough to warrant that title, makes an appearance after almost ten months that got my blood boiling. Beckett doesn't always handle everything well, and neither does Eden for that matter. If I were her, I'd be afraid to trust someone with my heart too.
There's no lack of scorching sex between these two either. Talk about steaming up my glasses....the fact that Eden could hold her own with this dirty talking hot and sexy hockey player just made these scenes that much better.
Ms. Jordan has once again proven why she's one of my go-to authors and is an automatic one-click no matter what! I can't wait to see what's up next in this Rough Riders Series!!!
The Rough Riders Hockey series is definitely keeping up the momentum with book 2.
Beckett Croft is a determined player who has plans to work hard, stay healthy, and get that contract he needs to continue his career that he loves so much. He is definitely on the path and he will continue to play smart and protect his teammates. But during a game, Beckett takes a fall and is forced to have himself looked at. While he doesn't feel the severity, he is put face to face with EMT Eden and she knows just how to handle the Beckett Croft.
Eden was a force to be reckoned with and Beckett didn't know what do when she let out her wrath on him. And it was just what he needed. His safety did come first.
This story touched on a lot of different issues. They were woven into the story very well. Both Beckett & Eden had reasons for not wanting to pursue the other. They had reasons for the paths their lives had chosen, they had reasons for why they continues on their paths, and why they were content with the way they were happy with how they lived. Their happiness was never something they complained about when it was in regards to the big picture. They would truly sacrifice.
That made these two seem like the perfect connection for the each other and everything was well deserved.
Eden is reluctant to open herself to a relationship, yet she's equally drawn to Beckett. They quickly succumb to what was supposed to be a one night stand. Despite–or maybe because of–her past, Eden surprisingly takes charge in their first heart pounding, panty melting hook up. Lawd, those two were explosive. So much so I may have needed a moment to recover. Ahem.
I really liked both main characters. Beckett is sexy, strong, commanding, but also sweet. Eden is sassy and strong herself, rebuilding her life on her own in a new city. She doesn’t stand a chance in resisting Beckett’s charm.
We get to spend much more time with the other Rough Riders in this installment. They’re a fun group of guys, so I can't wait to see more of them in book three.
Hot Puck is quick, fun, sweet, and oh so hot. It can be read as a standalone, but don’t deprive yourself of the yumminess that is book one.
Beckett Croft, a defenseman for the Rough Riders ha banged his head pretty badly while playing hockey. But he doesn’t want to stop playing and go to the Hospital.
Eden Kennedy, the EMT on duty won’t put up with his attitude. After ending a bad relationship, Eden has kept men at a distance. But Beckett is nothing if not persistent, and Eden can’t deny the sizzling between them.
I liked Beckett, Being the captain of the Rough Riders, he is a great leader. He looks out for his team mates. He is a wonderful father to Lily. I liked that Eden became an EMT to help other that were in situations similar to what she went through.
The book had me mesmerized from start to finish. I can’t wait to find out want happens next for the Rough Riders.
The hesitation these characters feel as they question the sanity of pursuing a relationship is real and compelling. But what impressed me the most was the maturity that they both displayed and the fact that they didn't harbor hidden agendas. Both characters had valid reason to be cautious and while Eden is much less receptive to taking the leap, their struggles seem to only add to the sweetness of their relationship.
Thank you Skye for delivering another thoughtful, steamy, and swoon worthy read. Can't wait to read Dirty Score!
