"With Pucked Over, Helena proves once again she is the queen of sexy, silly Rom Coms. This book had me laughing, swooning, and teary over its surprisingly emotional journey. Randy Balls might be my new favorite BBF." ~Daisy Prescott, USA Today bestselling author

I think it maybe would have been nice to see their first meeting in a prologue, so we could see the first spark of connection because truly it’s hard to see in the first part of the book what they have beyond sex. But in their storylines that are separate from each other they do have complicated backgrounds, and personal obstacles to overcome.
Although each novel in the Pucked series may be read as a standalone, I recommend you read them in order, so that you can fully experience the development of each quirky, colorful character and anticipate their reappearance in the next story. The main characters always shine brightest, but it's the 'ensemble cast' that makes this series so exciting and so much fun to read.
If Pucked and Pucked Up were worthy of 5 or more stars, Pucked Over is worthy of no less than 10. The connection between Randy and Lily is explosively erotic and, as you might expect from Helena Hunting, full of hilarious surprises; but as I said before, their relationship is so full of possibilities, yet held back by so many secrets, there is an undercurrent of suspense that takes their story to an entirely new level. Each wants to believe that their relationship is nothing more than casual sex - a fling that will come to its logical end. Each wants to believe that casual sex is all that they need, or want, for reasons best left for you to discover. Each refuses to admit - to themselves or each other - when their feelings begin to change, because change brings a risk that they are unprepared to face.
Helena is a master of alternating POV, which is a real luxury for her readers - we see through each character's eyes, and feel through their hearts. We laugh, cry, and celebrate with them. We immerse ourselves in their thoughts and feelings. We understand their fears and desires, and it's powerful stuff. The characters are simultaneously outrageous and totally relatable - the kind of people we'd like to know, or maybe even like to be.
I know I haven't told you much about the story - because this is one that you need to experience for yourself. So get out the tissues and keep reading - because you will laugh until you cry, and cry until you laugh. And in the end you will have taken an emotional journey that is as poignant as it is hilarious - and well worth taking again and again.
As for Randy, he has a hang-up or two that makes things a little bumpy between him and Lily. Heh. By that, I mean he has a few issues. His father being one of them. There's also another not-so-little thing that Lily needs to deal with before Randy can be 100% comfortable with her.
(As an aside, I never know how I'm going to feel about former man-whores being the hero. But Randy worked. He had reasons for being the way he was and it made sense.)
If spontaneous Os and tattoos are you thing, you'll enjoy spending time with Lily and Randy. They're both a little messed up (in different ways) and they need to figure themselves out in order to work as a couple. And I liked them!

I never thought the character of Randy (Ballistic is the actual last name, but always affectionately known as Randy Balls, because why not?) could be appealing enough for me to be distracted from Alex (hero from bk 1). O contraire. I knew I was going to like him from his appearance in Pucked Up — a particular scene just floored me. So I knew I was in for it when Pucked Over got here.
Randy's funny, caring, playful and respectful... and JESUS, the stamina. Yes, yes, I know he's fictional. I digress. Lily is a firecracker, but every bit a woman you can relate to: she's trying to be something she's not (casual) because she just can't resist and her self-doubts help flesh out a realistic character. Randy, however, thinks he knows what he's doing until he doesn't. Which I loved.
In the meantime, they get down and dirty (and BOY, DO THEY) until feelings get too loud to ignore (louder than Lily).
So, summary after a possibly random, meandering review: HOT. FUNNY. I'M READING IT AGAIN, SO I'LL BE IN MY BUNK.
Let me start off by saying what many women have probably repeated, but they of course were wrong. Randy is mine. Now that this has been taken care of, let me talk about how awesome this book was.
As soon as I saw the cover inspiration for Pucked Over, I knew that I needed to read this. Well I actually already wanted to learn more about Randy since meeting him in the last book. I enjoyed his funny, broody and somewhat carefree personality, but his vulnerability is what drew me in the most. Randy's secret not only surprised me, but it also made me feel bad for what he must have went through his entire life. There was only one woman who could make it all better.
Lily was another character that I was interested in. She was hilariously feisty and unapologetic. I loved the fact that Randy was so protective of her and the chemistry between the two was off the charts! This series gets better and better with each book!
