Book is written by a man very much in the know who has known Jarvis since at least 1986. The details in this book about Pulp's career from their first release onwards is incredible.

A perfect summary of the band 1978-1996
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 9, 2012
Of the many Pulp biographies out there this one seemed to be the most legit so I felt it was worth a read. Considering the cash-in nature of similar biographies from around the same time I was surprised by how detailed it was and how much enthusiasm the author seemed to have for the band. A very large part of the book focuses on the decade or so it took them to gain any kind of recognition which is moving but not quite as exciting as what came next. Other than that I would say its a perfectly compacted history of this very long and unusual story in a factual and very readable format. Anyone wishing to know what came after 1996 will be disapointed because the book ends there but I personally found this endearing because the final pages had so much optimism for the future.
Anyone looking for a short but detailed history of the band really ought to read this book.
