I just bought an EV. How long will Pulsar Plus 40 take to charge my car?
Complete your Pulsar Plus at home charging solution with Wallbox accessories.
Wallbox offers an entire suite of software and products that enhance your EV charging experience. Future-proof your EVSE with a power meter. If you can't mount your charger to a wall, the Eiffel Pedestal offers a secure and sleek foundation. Added rain covers and enclosures add layers of protection.
Will the Pulsar Plus charger work with my car?
Yes! Wallbox has tethered options for Type 1, Type 2 and GB/T vehicles. Our Pulsar family is compatible with any hybrid and electric car. Tesla vehicles are also compatible with an adapter which can be found online or at your local Tesla retailer.
How long does it take for Pulsar Plus to charge my car?
This will depend on your EV's battery capacity, the charger type, and grid connectivity. At home, your fastest option is a Wallbox Level 2 charger (Pulsar Plus) which takes just a few hours.
How much will charging cost with Pulsar Plus?
The price for charging your vehicle at home depends on how much you pay for each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity used. The ultimate cost is still comparatively lower than for vehicles with internal combustion engines.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical installation if I want to install a Pulsar Plus charger at home?
Sometimes, but often not! For example, when using a power meter with your Wallbox charger you can enable Power Boost, which adjusts EV charging speeds based on home power use. This prevents fuse issues and avoids costly electrical upgrades.
How does Pulsar Plus stand out amongst other EV chargers on Amazon?
Pulsar Plus is one of the few EVSEs built in the USA. Along with quality craftsmanship, we offer a customer support team based in the USA. The Pulsar Plus also offers solar EV charging, power sharing for multiple chargers, and dynamic load balancing.

The Wallbox has the longest available cable (25 ft, compared to the Chargepoint's 23 ft), is very easy to self install, is small and unobtrusive. And it costs about $100 less than fancier compeitors like the Chargepoint. It's worked reliably for the past three weeks since I installed it. It has wifi and bluetooth to enable you to use your phone app to monitor and set timers and see charging history. It sounds like the balancing feature that allows for charging multiple vehicles on the same circuit (with multiple wallboxes) might be nice future proofing, though I doubt I'll ever use that.
A good low cost, simple, reliable charging station with the longest available cable.

The unit gives you a hefty 9 kwh on a 40 amp circuit. That’s plenty to satisfy your overnight charging needs.
The unit is compact and is also rated for use outside your home. We placed ours in the garage and with 25 feet of cable it can easily hit the perimeter of your garage.
We highly recommend the Wall Box and the local utility rebate helps make it affordable.

Nice 25ft long heavy duty cord, and I've positioned it in my garage so that it will reach outside under my closed garage door to charge a vehicle outside if needed. High quality parts, made in Spain, I noticed, well designed and constructed. Cool lighting changes colors depending upon unit status.

Nice 25ft long heavy duty cord, and I've positioned it in my garage so that it will reach outside under my closed garage door to charge a vehicle outside if needed. High quality parts, made in Spain, I noticed, well designed and constructed. Cool lighting changes colors depending upon unit status.
1. It is relatively compact.
2. It has a three year warranty.
3. It can either be plugged in to a NEMA 14-50 wall outlet or hard-wired. We have an outlet for right now, but might consider hard-wiring two units on the circuit in the future.
4. Related to that, the Wallbox is capable of power sharing — so if two Wallboxes are on the same circuit, they talk to each other and “share” the available power so the line is not overloaded.
5. It can be programmed to charge at night when our utility charges less per kWh (although both our cars also have onboard software that can do the same).
6. Our 240 volt line is rated at 50 amps, which means the total load should not exceed 40 amps (80% of maximum). Since the Wallbox’s maximum draw is 40 amps (it also can be adjusted downward), it is a perfect match for our line.
7. The Wallbox has a 25 foot cord from the unit to the J1772 plug that attaches to the car — this makes it long enough to reach the car’s plug-in outlet no matter where the outlet is located on the car (front or back, driver or passenger side), without having to back the car into the garage if the plug is in the back (as it is on some electric vehicles).
8. If the Tesla connector becomes the industry standard, or there are some cars with the Tesla connector and some with the J1772 (which looks like the probably future state), there are readily available adapters on the market that will turn the J1772 plug into a Tesla plug when needed.
9. The “holster” for the J1772 plug — where it lives when not plugged into a car — is separate from the Wallbox unit, so the plug can be placed in a convenient location — this can be helpful because the options for placing the Wallbox unit itself are going to be very limited (see below).
The Wallbox arrived double-boxed, and the inner package was easy to unpack, with everything in the box clearly labeled. It is pre-wired for plugging into a NEMA 14-50 receptacle — hard wiring requires opening the box up to change the configuration (this is contrary to some of the how-tube videos on Youtube, apparently from Europe, where the box must be opened to attach the cord with the plug to the box — that is not true in the U.S.). The instructions are clear and straightforward.
The instructions recommend turning off the circuit at the circuit breaker while installing, which is a good idea. Placement of the unit is limited — the plug-in cord is only 12 inches long, so the unit must be placed very close to the wall outlet, and the outlet must be to the left of the unit. Pay close attention to whether the ground (the small round hole) on the NEMA 14-50 outlet is at the top or bottom — it will impact where the box can be placed, since the plug orientation has to align with the outlet. My recommendation is to plug the unit into the outlet while the circuit breaker is off, and see where the unit can be placed — then mark the location with a pencil and unplug the unit again. The back plate comes off the unit to make it easy to mount. The back plate is mounted with two large wooden screws (included), that come complete with drywall anchors (although it would be better to attach it to a stud, if possible, but the limited options for location may prevent that). Once the back plate is mounted, the unit just slides right on to the backplate, and is secured with two set screws (provided). Plug it back in, turn the breaker back on, and if the status light is green, you’re set to go. If it is red, then there is a problem with the circuit and you, or your electrician, will need to troubleshoot.
Unless you are going to run the unit at a full 40 amps and do not want to either do any customization or be able to do over-the-air software updates, you will need a smartphone or tablet that can run the Wallbox mobile app and has Bluetooth connectivity. I downloaded the app, typed in the serial number and model number that are on a label on the unit (you are supposed to be able to use a QR Code on the side of the unit, but I couldn’t make it work, so I used the alternative manual registration option in the app), stood next to the Wallbox, and connected via Bluetooth. Then the app had me search for my wifi network and add the password, and the software immediately connected the Wallbox to my wifi and checked for software updates. There was an update available, and I was prompted to authorize downloading, which I did, and the software update automatically downloaded and installed in the Wallbox. The whole process, from finding and downloading the app to completing the software update to the Wallbox, took less than five minutes — I kid you not (a few YouTube videos suggest there is something difficult about the Bluetooth connection process — I had no difficulty at all).
The holster bolts into the wall with two screws, which also come with drywall anchors. But if possible, it once again is better to screw it into a stud — the holster has a lip on it so the 25 foot cord can be coiled around it, but the cord is heavy. Even if you don’t hang the cord around the holster, the holster takes a lot of strain with the J1772 plug being regularly removed and inserted. Also, the two screws are on the center line of the holster — the result is that the holster is not overly stable, and seems flimsy. It would be better if it were integrated with a square backplate that permitted a screw to be used at each corner — that would make it more stable, and to attach better to drywall if a stud is not in the right location. I have deducted a star for the poorly designed holster.
By the way, you may see some older YouTube videos lamenting that the 25 foot cord is thin and will not necessarily work well with outside placement in cold climates — Wallbox appears to have heard those concerns and reacted, because the cord on my unit is visibly much thicker than the one shown in the older YouTube videos. So it may be better adapted for outdoor use in northern climates than it was a while back.
All in all, a great unit and, once installed, a joy to use. Our car batteries can each now be charged to their full capacity from empty (both get 25 to 30 miles full electric before switching to hybrid) in about two hours and twenty minutes. Since we installed it, I’m don’t think either my wife or I have used a drop of gasoline as part of our daily routine. Highly recommended.

Worked fine for 2, then started having charging and connections issues when scheduling on overnight charge.
Stopped using the schedule feature, and it worked.
Lately, having the same issues.
Today, a complete bust - can’t seem to get it to reboot, reconnect on the app, and it stops charging after a couple minutes.
Definitely not worth the cost, and has been nothing but problems. Can’t use the features advertised, which was the draw in the beginning.
Don’t buy this, you’ll regret it!
