Product Description

Pumpin' Pal Super Shields are simply the best designed breast pumping flanges on the market today. The oval design of the nipple area creates Better Flow of milk and allows ducts to drain faster and more efficiently. The Angle of the Super Shield allows mom to sit in a much more comfortable position with improved posture. The Ripple Design on the bell of the Super Shields moves the suction area away from the nipple and places it in a much less sensitive area on the breast, reducing nipple trauma and tissue abrasions. The overall design aids in the reduction of plugged ducts and mastitis.

These flanges can be used in all major brands of pumps, some as a replacement and some as an insert. The Super Shields come highly recommended by Lactation Consultants and are featured in current breast feeding books as an answer for moms to improve their milk output and comfort with pumping. An absolute must have for all pumping moms. The set comes with a pair of all three sizes a mom will need because her body will change throughout the time she is pumping and throughout the day as well. Having the set of all 3 sizes assures mom she has what she needs when she needs it and is priced more economically than when purchased separately.

In this video review, I show how these breast shields look, how they work, and especially how they fit with a Medela pump system and how they compare to Medela breast shields. There seems to be a lot of confusion on breast shield sizes and functionality and I hope to answer some of those questions in this video.

I learned a lot as I was researching all sorts of these products for my wife so hope this information can also help others too! So if this video review was helpful, please click on 'yes' below and happy shopping!

I have to preface my 5-star review by saying these shields actually did not work for me. So why am I giving them 5-stars?

After coming out of the fog from my baby's birth I realized that six months had gone by since I had purchased the shields. Since I was not able to see any improvement in production from them, I logged on to Amazon to return them. THat's when I found out that the time limit for returning my purchase had expired :(

As a last ditch effort I emailed the owner of the companion, Jon, and explained my predicament. I emailed him at 6pm on a Sunday evening and imagine my surprise when I saw a response from him at 8pm the same night.

He expressed sadness that the shields had not worked for me and said he was willing to help in any way whether that be with advice or with a return. I told him I was done pumping for my son and simply wanted to return the item. He said, "No problem." Not only did he immediately refund my credit card he he ALSO said (to paraphrase) "don't waste any of your time or money sending the item back to us. Just pass them onto another nursing mama who you think could use them".

!!! The level of customer service was like nothing I have ever experienced in my life. So, even if you are thinking of trying these, I say DO IT!!! You have nothing to lose. And thank you again to Jon and the amazing response. You are truly a one of a kind company.

As all exclusive pumpers would know, finding the right shield takes time and experimentation. Sadly, time is also in short supply b/c spending even a couple days testing out any one shield can rapidly result in diminished supply. I am a new mom who ended up EPing b/c of latch issues. I am also someone who has low supply despite EPing around the clock (I only pump about 10-12 oz per day). I went through every single Medela shield (20mm, 24mm, 27mm) and then I went through each of these Pumpin' Pals shields to find the best fit in terms of comfort and output. Women all have their unique narratives when it comes to breastfeeding, but if you are someone who has issues similar to mine, I do recommend the Pumpin' Pals shields. I settled on the large shield (aka the middle size) and it has worked the best so far (my baby is 10 weeks). The angle helps collect every precious little drop, and the graduated cone helps with comfort and suction to the breast. There are also ridges on the bottom part of the shield, which I think are there to help prevent leaks after pumping. However, they can cause a bit of friction damage to the breast over the long term (I have tougher breast skin where the ridges are located). It's very helpful to use olive oil or nipple cream on the shield for every pump session in order to alleviate breast wear and tear. For a while (around week 6-7) I did end up with really bad clogs every day, but I don't necessarily attribute it to these shields. I think it was probably a result of EPing b/c this action just takes a toll on the breasts. The only thing that would allow me to unclog (I tried hot compresses, cold cabbage leaves, ice packs, breast compressions, you name it and nothing worked) was getting my baby to suck the clogs out.Read more ›

These have totally overhauled my pumping life. They're perfect, I only wish I could order more of the particular size I need and not the whole set. My milk output is so much greater with the pals and I can relax while using them. They even fit into my Spectra flanges which is great (If your wondering how, I just push it in with a bit of elbow grease and twist to ensure that they are secure. I don't get any leaks this way and have been using them for about four months.) They're easy to wash and the way the flange points down mimics the way suction would be if you had an infant across your lap.

These came with no instructions, which was a bit annoying but after the pain I was experiencing from my regular flanges I decided to just look up some help on the internet. My searching brought me to the PumpinPals website, which had a video and then I went to a couple of blogs that reviewed the product. From this blog specifically you can see what it should look like when pumping, scrollsee pic here After watching I decided that their adage of whatever is comfortable is the right way, I stopped stressing about how it should be. So first run through I tried all sizes, no pain with any of them, however output was different. With the XL I get the best. With my old flanges a good ring of areola would get sucked into the tube, so when I stopped pumping it hurt, and the tissue was raised and hard. Not fun. I would get like 1 and half, maybe 2 ounces. With PumpinPals, yes my areola does go into the channel, but NO PAIN or hardness after. It's amazing.

The first few sessions I didn't get a lot of milk, but now I can pump 4 or 5 oz each time. Seriously give PumpinPals a try, if it doesn't work for you then you really have nothing to lose, the company will refund you no problems, no hassles.
