One of the biggest names in boxing returns after a 15-year hiatus. Grab a Wii Remote controller in one hand and a Nunchuk controller in the other and step back into the ring with a modern update of the classic Punch-Out!! Little Mac is back! Everyone’s favorite underdog from the 1980s joins the best of the original Punch-Out!! cast in a modern re-imagination of the series. Players will find familiar names like Glass Joe, King Hippo and trainer Doc Louis. These boxers come to life again in cel-shaded 3-D, complete with hilarious fighting animations and back stories that capture all the fun and flair of the original Punch-Out!! games. The motion-sensitive controls of the Wii console mean that when players throw punches, Little Mac throws punches as well. Additionally, you can control hooks and jabs by combining motion control with control-stick movement. The motion-sensing Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers turn real-life swings into on-screen punches, so anyone can play. The game can also be played with classic NES-style controls by turning the Wii Remote sideways.

Anyway, if you are still interested, then you are in for a treat. I cannot remember the last time I sat in front of a video game console for 4 consecutive hours playing a video game. It reminded me of my childhood when we played the NES during weekends and summers. The game developers nailed it. All the originals are there and 2 Super Punchout veterans also return.
Punch-Out!! is almost like a puzzle game where you learn patterns to dodge and counter. Once you have mastered a particular fighter, it is like art in motion when you TKO an opponent flawlessly.
The motion controls work well, but you have to play the game holding the wii remote horizontally. 2 player mode is pretty lame but a nice change of pace. Too bad you cannot play as any boxer and there is no online functionality whatsoever.
Fellow old school gamers, our patience has been rewarded handsomely.
Some other qualms about the game is that it seems to have some weird load times after a match. This is minor but I get annoyed with persistent load times. Also the Wii controls are really just for fun, once you defeat the first three characters you have to abandon them for the classic control scheme (horizontal Wiimote) because they are just too inaccurate. The game also has a decent vs mode but again it's more of a gimmick as there really is not much skill involved. Fans of the series will appreciate a ton of throwbacks and Easter eggs, like Little Mac in his pink jogging outfit and Doc in your corner pleading you to join the Nintendo Fan Club after you get pummeled by your opponent. Also the game is absolutely hilarious especially with the sayings of the one new character the Disco Kid.
Despite the few short comings this is a must have for any body who enjoys Nintendo quality and wants a fun addicting title to add to their collection.
The gameplay is practically identical to the old NES title with some additions from the SNES game and extra layers of polish. As players progress they'll quickly realize how challenging Punch-Out!! really can be: especially when they get knocked out by Glass Joe in Title Defense mode.
The extra challenges in Exhibition Mode help to really round out the package, offering dedicated players hours and hours of puzzle/action gameplay for their dollar. The multiplayer mode is a bit of a throwaway, but Punch-Out!! is really a test of pattern recognition and reflexes, and this new title completely sells the concept in spades.
