I have been buying Pure Henna for a while and I know what it should look like. This is not 100% Pure Henna. I ordered my last shipment from the same place and it said "pure henna" on the package...it was pure henna...this was different packaging and it said "Key Ingredient" was Henna...when I compared it to some product from the prior order they were not alike...this order was dyed green. 2 pounds of garbage...I will NOT use this product!!! False advertising to say the least! There is no way to know what chemicals, etc this is made of and not worth exposing yourself to those unkowns!

Having used many brands of henna powder, I can say that I have experience with using them and my expectations of the quality. This is my first time buying henna powder online. I mixed it with juice of fresh lemons. I ended up using my fingers to feel the consistency of powder. It was finely sifted. However within a minute after I washed my hands, my fingers stained greenish blue. A faint stain remained after I scrubbed it with soap. It tells me that a green dye was added to make the powder look appealing and green(I don't want that and it is not needed). Most unadulterated henna powders look brownish green when the leaves are dried and powdered. The quality of dye release depends on the batch and the growing conditions for the plant. The batch I received had no dye release whatsoever after letting it sit overnight for 12 hours. I was not intending to use it after the finger staining but I wanted to check if the henna was good. Unfortunately, my return window is past and I won't be able to return this product. I wish I had time to check this earlier.

Some henna powders come with lab certified dye content. Anywhere from 1.5%-2.5%..sometimes up to 3% gives you a rich color. Henna should release dye when mixed with acidic liquids within 6-8 hours. Most of the times a satisfactory color is obtained within 2-3 hours of application if the quality is good. I didn't want to give this any star.
As regards the seller, the powder arrived in timely fashion. I decided to write this review because it is important that the seller verifies and quality checks the product before marketing them.

This product is not the best. It is definitely mixed with junk. It is very slimy when mixed with water. It shouldn't be that way. I have used other brands that are way better. It is better to buy a pricey one but that is good. I would not buy it again nor refer it to anyone.

One star for FALSE ADVERTISING. Product description stated that there are NO additives in this ONE HUNRED PERCENT "pure" henna. Not so (P.S. just because something added to a product is natural, doesn't mean it isn't an additive...It's been ADDED hasn't it?? Then, it's an additive and someone needs to go back to school!). This henna includes not just ONE additive, but a FEW, including AMLA! You know what Amla is used for? DARKENING! It also includes Bhringraj!!! An ADDITIVE to make your hair BLACK!! You want dark brown to black hair? By all means...grab you some of this. As for me, I wanted 100% PURE HENNA NO ADDITIVES (you know, as the description states) to keep my fabulous, healthy hair...RED!! That's what 100% Pure Henna does! If I'd wanted a henna MIX to make my hair dark brown (Yes, it states this color outcome on the bottom of the bag of 'IMPRESSION' "100% natural herbal henna") WHY, Seller, are you misleading people with this product? If you want RED hennad hair...do NOT...I repeat...DO NOT purchase this product!!! Also, as per other reviews here, this CRAP is SLIMY!!!! WTF?!

DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT PURE 100% HENNA. I should believe the most useful review of this product. This is false advertising. From the older reviews, the seller may used to sell the real pure henna, but not now. I got the green package of henna mixed with natural herbs. I can return it, but I will have to pay for the shipping, and it may cost me about half of the price. I am very disappointed.

update: I was lucky to send out the return product by using UPS drop-off, so it free shipping. Thanks for Amazon service.

I have been using henna for seven years. I have ordered from many sellers, and even got henna from a 100-yen shop in Japan. Once I've actually gotten henna that had twigs in it. I've never had to complain before.

This was the WORST quality of henna I ever tried. It was dyed green and had sand in it. I prepared it the way I always have, but it had very little dye and it gave me a bad headache. I really wish I hadn't ordered such a large quantity of bad henna.

You can find better henna for the same price.

I am completely satisfied with my purchase of Henna from Jaipur Rajastan. This is my second time purchasing from them. I am an African American woman with 4a hair. I mix this henna with 100% coconut milk so that my hair is moisturized and strengthened. Because the coconut milk is not as acidic as orange juice I do not get very much color, but I do get benefits. I’ve used this product with orange juice and did get color. I have even used this product on my mother along with indigo and we were satisfied with the results.

I’ve used all kinds of Henna through my natural hair journey. I’ve stopped using Mehandi a few years back 1. Because they are very pricey and 2. Because I received a bad batch (I got NO color) and the customer service response I got after reporting to them my dissatisfaction was horrible. With the henna Jaipur Rajastan offers and the results that I get, I am sticking with them.

Reviewers talk about this henna not being 100% pure. This product is from India and a lot of Indian products contain other natural plants, which are all used on their hair, like Amla, Neem and Hesh. Believe me, the stuff in our American products are wayyy worse than what they put in theirs!!
