Made Fresh & Pure - Step 1In our refrigerated kitchen, RAW human grade sockeye salmon is cut into our cat treats. Still frozen, our sockeye salmon is placed into our freeze drying chamber. |
Made Fresh & Pure - Step 2Once in the chamber, temperatures are brought down even further, and ice is gently removed from our sockeye salmon through sublimation in a vacuum. This method forces the ice to transition into vapor and water is gently drawn out of our treats. From start to finish, our freeze drying process can take up to 24 hours to complete. |
Made Fresh & Pure - Step 3Once complete, delicious morsels of pure RAW freeze dried sockeye salmon are removed from our chamber and placed into our bags for your cats to enjoy. Our freeze dried sockeye salmon treats have all the aroma, texture, nutrients, and freshness locked in that cats crave and pet parents love. |

I also use the shrimp for behavioral training. My cat gladly tolerates tooth brushing, bathing, claw clipping, eye drops, etc., in order to earn a plate of shrimp. I will keep the bag in view so he knows he’ll be earning shrimp and so that he can smell them too.
My cat has become a champion, for the most part, LOL. We’re still working on how long he’ll tolerate the bath before he starts to struggle. Otherwise, he’s learned to accept everything else.
My guess is that my cat enjoys the natural salty flavor and heavy odor of the shrimp. Although the bag is lightweight, there are a lot of individual pieces of shrimp, so it goes a long way. It’s a good value for the money, I think.
These shrimp are also useful when my cat has a respiratory infection and loses his sense of smell making him uninterested in eating, because he’ll still be able to smell the shrimp. So I simply add shrimp as a topper to his regular food, and then he eats.
Upon opening, there is a strong fish smell, which is to be expected for a fish product. The bag contains the odor really well, and there is no smell of fish in the treat drawer. I got these to give to my boy cat, as the two younger girls have feline herpes and get a daily lysine treat. The boy cat also demanded a lysine treat, and I thought giving him some other treat would be a fine substitute, so I could just save the lysine for the girls. Well, the youngest cat was very jealous that he was getting something that smelled so fishy, while she just got the lysine treat. So now they all just get lysine (since it is good for overall health anyway) and the youngest and the boy get one of these as a treat other times.
The only reason I took a star off is because my middle cat turned her nose up at these. It is probably an issue with her, but I wanted people to be aware that these are not universally loved. Before I got these, I ordered the Temptations milk flavor treats. The boy cat and the middle cat loved those, but the youngest one turned up her nose. Cats are so weird. So now at treat time, I offer a mix of these salmon treats and the Temptations, so everyone gets something.
While i love these treats, i do suggest buying one small bag first and seeing if your cat(s) like them. As all cat owners know, kitties can be very finicky about their food....Fortunately for me my diabetic kitty Marvin really likes them, and he was the main reason i purchased them. As for the other cats, 1/2 like these treats too and 1/2 aren't interested. (we have 7 cats total) So it's really hit or miss and depends on the cat if they will like them. I experienced this with bonito flakes as well, a few of the cats go CRAZY for them but the majority (even fishy lovers) turn their nose up at them. Go figure....Oh, and the cats that do like these salmon treats also really like the chicken flavor. In fact the chicken is their favorite which kind of surprises me, because they love fish flavors in wet food & hardly want to eat wet chicken flavors.
As a human "owner", I like that the treat is just shrimp...no filler. Cats need protein, and I prefer my cat treats to be high in protein. So the shrimp fit the bill. The fact that the kitten (and all the other cats) likes the shrimp makes it even better. There is a slight fishy odor when you open the package, but it is not at all unpleasant. The shrimp themselves have only a faint odor. It's certainly enough to get the cats' noses going when I open the pouch. The shrimp also make a nice sound when I shake the bag.
I've been looking for a treat that my mostly-formerly-feral kitten really likes. She is hand-shy, and I'm using treats to teach her that hands bring good things. She liked this treat enough that I went out and bought a bunch more.
The only down-side is that the package contains a fair amount of shrimp fragments as well as whole shrimp. That isn't a problem when putting a small pile of treats in front of a cat, but only the whole shrimp work when reaching out to the kitten - the fragments are too small. The other cats are happy to eat the fragments, so that isn't a problem. All in all, I am very happy with this nutritious cat treat.

Quite expensive so it’s just 1or 2 pieces at a treat time .
