Product Description

Product Description

This is a 3. 2 gallon storage tank with 1/4" quick connect tank ball valve included. This is commonly called an RO storage tank. It is a bladder tank. The air bladder located on the inside of this tank allows the tank to dispense water. Not all bladder tanks are created equal. There is a difference in tanks for regular water storage and tanks designed for pure water storage. These tanks can be used horizontally or vertically. The position makes no difference in it's ability to do it's job. Basically you are looking at 11 x 15 inches or 15 x 11 inches. Hydroneumatic, bladder, captive air, reverse osmosis storage & pressure tank are all common names for these tanks. All of these tanks fill a food safe bladder with water and that bladder is surrounded by a coushion of air. Tanks rated for reverse osmosis water storage have stainless steel connection points vs. common steel which will corrode when exposed to pure water.

My inquiry to Purenex:

3 months ago I ordered a water storage tank from you. Last week the bladder in the tank ruptured, flooding my RO system with air. I am hoping that this item is still covered under warranty since it has failed after such a short time. Please advise me as to how to go about getting a replacement.

Their reply:
We totally understand your frustration, but nothing we can do about that, warranty covers only those equipment what was installed by our technicians.
Thank you,
Purenex

Replaced my old tank that lasted over 5 years. This one failed in 5 months! Purenex only warrants in their technician installs. I guess you get what you pay for.

Bought the replacement tank in July 2011. The bladder of the tank broke after 5 months of use. I would not recommend this tank. Waste of time and money.

The description clearly states "w/ Ball Valve" and was the reason I chose this one over other tanks/sellers. As it turns out, there was NO Ball Valve on the tank or in the packaging. I was so desperate to get my Reverse Osmosis system back in action that I installed the new tank without it. The first picture Amazon shows of this tank is correct (NO BALL VALVE). Guess I will give Purenex a miss next time.

The air pressure bladder failed after two weeks. Amazon made it right, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions about the quality of the product.

My Watts RO system purchased from Costco about 4 years ago, just wouldn't produce any water at the tap. I thought I had a pressure issue or maybe one of the filters was clogging up. I would turn on the tap and get about 3 seconds of strong water flow, then it went to a trickle. It was taking a long time just to fill one water glass.

I replaced the filters and there was no change in water pressure. Then I read about these things having a bladder in them, so I followed a procedure I saw on YouTube to drain the tank and check for 5-7 psi in the tank bladder. Well, it was low, so I filled it back to 7 psi. That didn't work either so I left it alone for a while, then saw that they tanks don't cost that much to replace.

I got this on Amazon and 2 days later installed it in 5 minutes (simple install, the bladder is already pressurized inside), let it fill up for a while, then it was amazing. It was like having a brand new system again! Steady, consistent, water pressure at the tap! This seems to be the same exact tank my Watts system came with originally. I don't know how long it is supposed to last, but I got about 4 yrs. out of my original tank and at under $40 to replace, it's not bad I suppose.

My old reverse-osmosis system storage tank had a bad air bladder--it just wore out.

This replacement worked as advertised, and for a very reasonable price.
